On September 26, teaching students from the Ayotzinapa Normal School in Mexico were intercepted by police forces en route to a protest in Iguala. In the ensuing clash, six people were killed, and 43 Ayotzinapa students were taken away by the police. Investigations over the following weeks led to the startling allegations that the police had acted at the behest of the local mayor, and had turned over the abducted students to members of the Guerreros Unidos cartel. All 43 students are now feared dead.
The case has come to represent the negative feeling of the Mexican public toward the state of justice and the rule of law in Mexico. The events have now galvanized the survivors of the attack and the disappeared students' parents. Nationwide demonstrations have increased in intensity, and recently led to government buildings in the state of Guerrero to be set on fire.
In this episode, VICE News travels with a volunteer search party in Iguala continuing the search for the missing 43 students, while the parents of the disappeared students petition President Enrique Peña Nieto to give answers, or failing that, his resignation.

Bret H cant help but laugh when americans think all of mexico is same and the violence is widespread, i travel from mexicos northern border to its southern border (on road) and i can tell you that its only small pockets within the country that are bad. if it was as bad as people make things out to be i would have moved back to texas in a heart beat. i am sure the growing expat community and even tourist would agree.

Goverments as a whole cant borrow money from individuals. You have national debts for that. A goverment isnt a person, who cant pay his rent. What really happened is that the cartels are financing certain politicians - prime minister, president, etc.

This is like a murderous war between society and mafia which influences authorities strongly, and taking into account the case I suppose mafia pays much money to all the authorities which "legalize" them, also authorities need visibility of "fight agains mafia", just visibility. I think US is fully satisfied with this situation either and with loyal Mexico authorities.

Edna Ibarra i do really wanted them to be alive but thats not possible since they knew these student will tell to the public what actually happen to them,who kidnaped them,or etc. Btw i still dont get their motivation for kidnaping the student if they dont want ransom nor killing them. Or maybe they just giving massage for normal student so no more normal school?
@1802edna
@1802edna 10 жыл бұрын
Yeah lets be realistic, they are not alive but since Mexico is very religious we believe that they are alive or like one of the students parent said "If my son is not alive please tell me were I can found his body" ouch!! They kidnapped because the mayor's wife ordered to do it. She was in a "party" and the students were on the way to protest, so she knew and she told to the police/cartel to disappear them. She was the one with the power not his husband, in a lot of sources they don't share this information but her brothers used to be part of the Cartel Guerreros Unidos (narco traffic ) , but the killed them. So she is the only one alive and she used to work with-for them. If you haven't seen the news about Mexico, let me tell you.. We’re angry with our government, I’m a student and I’m afraid because for my government I’m a criminal. We’ve made a lot of protest in which some mates were sended to jail because they were claiming for their rights. We want the 43 students back alive and we want our president Enrique Peña Nieto to quit because he’s destroying our country. I start to believe the the ones that who are scare is them because we are fighting and we are not going to stop. " THEY TRIED TO BURY US. THEY DIDNT KNOW WE WERE SEEDS" Mexican proverb
