@@seymourbrown7647Big time, I remember the hype back in 2001 with Ichiro leading the way. To think their near loss against the Indians in the ALDS was one of the first signs that things won't go so well for them. With that said, even with their current W-L record their offense I find to be untrustworthy. They need to be more consistent as their pitching can't keep bailing them out, especially come playoffs when they meet the Astros again. Can't hope that Pressly would become Ken Giles in the postseason.

As a young German, I lived and worked in NYC 1997 and 1998. A colleague of mine from Queens sometimes took me to the old Yankee stadium where I could watch an also young Derek Jeter and this eternal team. I have been a fan ever since and I am, of course, routing for Judge and this great rotation around Cole this season. But I have to say, this 98 team and season were special on so many levels and can proably not be repeated.. Thanks for this video.

The scary part about this team was that they took their foot off the pedal in September. I think they went 12-14 in September and still ended up with 114 wins, unreal.

I was I was there for a game where David Cohen pitched a complete game and Shane Spencer hit a home run and our cameraman decided to walk on the field after the game security came down on us like swat. 114 wins in very unlikely. It was the greatest regular season in the past 50 years that would finish the job. That yankee team had a lot of home grown players and misfits. It was almost a perfect season. It would also be the final season of Joe DiMaggio to attend a yankees game in person. Also Yogi Berra wouldn’t return until 1999. George Steinbrenner was the boss. David Wells also pitched a perfect game and won the ALCS MVP. Scott Brosius would have a career year in pinstripes and win the World Series MVP.
