I'm disabled ( thrown from a truck on the highway) in 94. But my 2002 Sonoma 4x4 trans lines are leaking, my nephew tried to fix but hard to reach the nuts and pull their clips, now a second attempt by a neighbor but the battery went DEAD and so did the fuel pump, just throwing it out there to possibly get some help, I've been without my Truck for 4 months. I'm in Jackson Michigan if you get close. God bless, keep up the great work. P. S. And now my roof is leaking! But that's a whole nother issue.

Most people warm up the engine a little before changing oil. When you pre fill the filter you run the risk of pushing contaminants from the manufacturing , packing , shipping , process straight into the engine. Most cars have a clear flood mode. Buy holding the throttle wide open and cranking it for the few seconds it takes to establish oil pressure You can avoid causing any damage buy contaminating your engine. There is plenty of oil left on the Bering surfaces from warming it up. Pulse you just dumped five quart s or more onto it that drained threw. So there is plenty left to protect it for the few seconds it takes to get oil pressure.

So how do you get around the "contamination" in the oil filter (as you say) on the first start up then? Either way the first time oil goes through if there's stuff in the filter the oil is going to pick it up. Not arguing just asking as I may be missing something here.

@@darryladams519 When oil comes out of the engine and into the filter in it goes threw all the little holes around the top and is pushed threw the filter medium to the bottom of the filter then back up out the big hole in the middle. If you pre fill it it sucks that oil out on start up and into the engine without passing through the filter.

They use the cheapest and poorest quality oil filter possible but use one of the best and most expensive engine oils. A Fram filter and redline oil. Seems counter productive.

They use a th400 I believe. Several other big name prostreet/promod diesels have went this route. Plenty of guys have great luck sticking with the 48re and 4r100 built to the max too

Well, I was going to complain about it looking like the first 3rd of the Powerblock shows becoming vlogs and moving away from build shows, but it looks like the majority is fine with it.
