Great video, awesome trip! I'm pretty shocked and amazed at the state of that bash plate on the 500x. What happened haha
@clivebarber4 жыл бұрын
I basically wheelied across a small stream, at about 20 - 30 mph, what I didn't see was that there was a big pointy rock sticking up just were I managed to land. This was what messed up the bash plate. There was zero damage to my bike, other than the thing that was designed to take the force of large pointy rocks. The RR bash plate certainly saved my bike from some very expensive engine damage. It did what it was designed to do. A contributing factor was that I am still running the OEM suspension, which as we all now is closely related to a pogo stick, being used by an elephant. If I had actually got round to fitting the RR rear shock that has been sat in my garage for the last 3 months, I am fairly certain I would have not bottomed out, and not broken the bash plate. So a combination of stupid riding, poor set up and sheer bad luck. (No need to address my weight issues on this pubic forum! I am still convinced RR is the way to go, fantastic products and fantastic service.
@akaTelo4 жыл бұрын
@@clivebarber I was hoping for an interesting story but this is next level wow. If I was on the fence about that bash plate before I'm certainly more convinced now haha

Hi Greg, great film it always makes me homesick when I watch your films from the north of England. I am from Barnard Castle but have lived in the South of Ireland for the last 20 years. The dales and the Lake District are so stunning. Interesting mix of bikes this time, love the AJP well wear as we say here. I would like to see your thoughts on the CB 500 is it an option as an off road mount or is it still too street biased? I ride a BMW F800 GS ADV its a great touring bike but too big and heavy off road. How did Clive rip the sump guard off the Honda ? Good luck stay safe.R
@clivebarber4 жыл бұрын
I did it by riding it like an enduro bike! I wheelied across a stream and landed sump first on a pointy rock. No damage to the bike and Rally Raid replaced the sump guard. Top company. I need to upgrade my suspension to the Rally Raid set up to give more ground clearance and stop it from bottoming out.
@GregVillalobos4 жыл бұрын
The CB500X is a great bike. I loved mine. People have taken them round the world. They are super reliable. But for the kind of rinding I do I found it was reaching its limits. If you are mostly road and light gravel it's great. If you want to ride more technical stuff you might push it a bit too far.
@Alienbikers-in-India3 жыл бұрын
Here, in India is growing quite fast pan India 'Great Indian Trail (GRIT)' - the same thing as TET in Europe. I think there are not many gaps on route left to go all around the country. As much as i red, creators call it scenic route because there are not too difficult, technical parts. Any bike can do it, even Royal Enfield, of course if it will not fell apart. GPX files available on website. I criss-crossed big part of India, I was in places where GRIT goes, it is very scenic.
