I'm sitting with my morning-coffee. 3:44 minutes ago I was agressiv ready to start my work. But with this wonderful peace of music I fell softly back in my dreams, with an wide opened heart and in a peaceful and loving mood. That's much better. Thank You again dear Snoozedoctor. Best wishes to You from Westerwald!

Dreamy. And then gets dreamier. I really like when it does that double accent going into the chord. Muses me into being a poet. You and I played the first floor entryway of one of those high-rise dorms at ASU. You composed the song - the river And you created this wonderful guitar tune - and I still remember the words I wrote Glasses held high to the blue evening sky Oh we share this Twilight Between day and darkened night ......

The sun in the west, behind mountains finds rest, painting clouds overhead, til the light in our eyes fades and dies. I remember the verses well but still can't for the life of me write a chorus to that tune.

Lovely voice leading. The intro has a somewhat renaissance feel perhaps? (actually, now I think of it the cadences as well)

Thanks. I think maybe it does have a bit of that feel. I'm in an altered tuning that I pretty much stumbled into so it creates a bunch of maj7, min7, and maj9 chords.

It's beautiful, Doc, and I get the minimalist approach to the arrangement, but I would love to hear an alternate arrangement with acoustic piano underscore. At the 3 minute mark, I would introduce electric guitar with high sustain way back in the mix. Listen again to Elegy off the Stormwatch album and also to the placement of Martins electric guitar line in "Home" off the same album. There's a really nice album by Martin released in 1994 called "A Trick Of Memory". On that album there's a great track called "In the Shade of the Shadow" where the acoustic piano beautifully complements Martin's acoustic guitar. Also please consider introducing a fretless electric bass with it's characteristic mwah wrap around sound to the mix. This song has such cool melody and so much more could be added to it to create dramatic tension and more emotion without going over-board and sounding over-produced. In it's current state, it's pretty but also forgettable. I think you can take this track to a more powerful place on an emotional level.

Thanks for those suggestions! I've not heard that album, I'll certainly look for it! I hope to get my keyboard buddy to play on some tracks going forward. He lives far away so it would have to be remote. He's just getting into home recording so that may be a possibility. He's an absolute genius though and I know he could work some magic. It's remarkable that all the things you mention I thought about, adding bass, electric guitar, etc. I need to get a fretless. I think that would be fun to play. It's hard for me to arrange these tunes without stomping over the acoustic guitar. I'm just not skilled enough at arrangement.
