Maybe. But it assumes the rakata lost the ability to use the ships at the same time. In my opinion, more plausible option is that those who kept the force powers little longer would take over the respective fleets as warlords and fight among each other for power. And indeed it has been established that a civil war among the rakata broke out when their empire started to crumble. But it certainly isn't impossible that there are some ghost rakatan ships roaming the galaxy =)

The Pious Day fleet is news to me, but does lend a bit of credence to how Star Wars would deal with the 40K universe. The Imperium probably would be able to wipe out the Empire, but the fact that all of the aliens, and several human factions, can actually work together without too much infighting would put things in Star Wars' favor.

Seems to me, the Rakatan fleets were so long ago that they have probably been found and plundered by 0ABY. We wouldn't have seen them because they required the force to use, and so most people could not have activated one - but they could certainly have made themselves rich by scrapping it.
@matthewmoser12844 жыл бұрын
I think the Rakataan ships suffered one of 4 fates: 1) The ships were recovered by various Rakataan factions, who attempted to consolidate their assets, but ultimately had them destroyed due to infighting. I'm guessing about 10-15% of their fleet suffered this fate. 2) Those that weren't recovered, were likely taken over by their former slaves. We know that the early galactic civilizations after the Rakatta used reverse engineered Rakattan technology, which likely would have resulted in them cannabalizing large portions of the Rakattan fleet. In addition to that, we also know that the Republic and other civilizations wished to erase the scar of the Rakatta off the face of galactic history, so its likely that any ships they DIDN'T reverse engineer were simply destroyed. I'm guessing about 15-20% of their fleet suffered this fate. 3) Knowing that so many ships were suddenly inoperable, and that many of these ships were likely located near some gravity well, be it a planet, star, or black hole, any ships NOT recovered by the Rakatta and not seized by their slaves, likely simply fell into the gavity well of various solar bodies and were destroyed. I'm guessing about 60-70% of their fleet suffered this fate. 4) The FEW ships that were not recovered, seized, or ripped apart by cosmic forces, likely still survive to this day. We know that other artefacts from that era survived, and in equally harsh climates as the dead of space, so it's likely that there are still a few ships, derelects and drifting in the infinite space between stars, which have been untouched for all those thousands of years. I'm guessing less than 5%, and probably less than 1%, of their fleet suffered this fate. While well built and powerful ships, they relied too much on the force for their use, and the ravages of space is too much to ignore. But I ABSOLUTELY believe that at least SOME of their fleet does survive. Though since they would all have to be located in the void of space, its nearly impossible to locate them.

Would you consider Black Fleet to be one of the lost fleets? It certainly fits some of criteria:it had suddenly lost all contact with the rest of the galaxy,stayed like this for considerable amount of time(only about 10 years,but these were 10 very eventful years),and was powerful enough to threaten the dominant galactic power at the time. It wasnt rediscovered in the same way Katana fleet was,but its resurgence had managed to tip the galactic balance of power quite considerably. What do you think about that?

The main problem I have with the Katana fleet is that the ships are obsolete technologically in both firepower, speed and defenses even with their reduced crews. @aralornwolf31404 жыл бұрын
@@idealnovelist3484 , If you need a source for the Death Seed, it's from The Bacta War by Micheal A. Stackpole. The novel has been covered by the Eck's podcast a month ago or so. The real question regarding ugly ships is: Is there a benefit from making ships from parts of other ships? The reason I don't think ugly capital ships exist is the sheer amount of design planning which is required to make them work. After that, taking the time to actually build them. Any mistake can lead to the capital ship which can't function as designed... and building a ship (or cobbling one together from multiple other ships) takes a lot of time and resources. It's best to have a plan from the outset then acquire the parts required to make the ship. That's not to say you can't design a capital ship from scratch based on merging aspects of other ships' parts, but generally it can't be something you "wing it" in the making process unlike star fighters... Star fighters if they don't work can be dismantled and all parts can be saved for other fighters.

The problem with the Rakata theory is that according to lore their hyperdrives could only navigate to worlds strong in the Force. That fact would limit how many places the ships could be, to locations that would also attract force sensitives. The chance that they were found in the past is much higher.
@xarglethegreat4 жыл бұрын
I always thought that one aspect the 'black fleet crisis' trilogy handled very well was the existance of the black fleet itself and how a fleet could come to be lost, and how a military intelligence agency would go about tracking them down and generally assessing its enemies known strength. the idea that once they discovered a intact order of battle for the empire - list of ships by type class and name, list of formations and deployments- they cross referenced it with the known imperial losses etc and then went 'holy shit theres a whole bunch of ships went of the grid years ago and havent been seen since.

They changed the definition of what 'dreadnought' means in SW (and I'm fine with that). To cut down on some confusion, I call them Rendili cruisers because I think the company that made them was Rendili Star Drives. Also, in my head-canon, there are dozens and hundreds of major galactic wars over 30,000 years of history. So, not only can you lose fleets, but entire sectors can be cut-off from major hyperspace lanes. It could take generations to officially re-explore, contact and normalize relations with these sectors. Then, more wars erupt and the cycle continues (and that's also my explanation for technological stagnation, tech rising and falling every few centuries).

Really the only 'hole' in the theory on the Rakatan lost fleets are that since they were at war with many of their enslaved races, and it's likely that the kept their naval forces as quarantined from the plague as possible. (depending on how long the war lasted) I imagine many of the ships were destroyed in the uprisings. While old shipyards outside of the starforge territory might be left untouched, I don't think that there would be a vast number of the ships left in serviceable condition to be found. Not to mention that they wouldn't be of much use to 'modern' (even by old republic standards) galactic society outside of militarized force user factions such as sith or dark force users, and or renegade but non dark jedi factions/high force sensitive species such as the Mirialaan.

I'm enjoying watching Corey's warlord lore videos, especially since he so heavily features them in his Empire at War mod, Thrawn's Revenge. While Corey does a good job of covering the wave-top summaries of each warlord (much of which is covered in the limited lore portions of his mod) I'm curious if you could talk about why Imperials would continue allegiance to the Empire, or to a particular crazy warlord instead of doing something else. I do believe the Rakata have ships still ‘out there’. Possibly a planetary ‘dock/ hangar’ yet to be discovered. Since everything was ‘force powered’, I’m thinking their ships either kept flying in the direction they were going when they lost power (possibly still flying into some direction that has yet to have a solid object to crash into), if not then they are just floating, (after the force was lost) which would mean most (possibly) were scavenged long ago!! Maybe a few are still left, Undamaged but in such a remote location. Or... they have been located, and those who were able to locate them have either hidden them ‘for the galaxy’s own good’, collected them for a ‘rainy day’ purpose, maybe a bit of both. (3rd option is that whoever found them and destroyed them to do is all a favor?!?!

I agree most likely those with a still enough of a strong connection went out to find a cure or choose to remain hidden and safe until the plague subsided and then come back and rule the Empire. #askeck personal question more then a story. A common complaint for Rebels is that it doesn't have big battles like the clone wars, but considering the lore the rebels shouldn't have a force this big to fight. Is this fair criticism or is this judging a fish to climb a tree scenario?

No doubt their maybe entire fleets out their ...before the vong invasion after vong invasion very little chance unless. Like Mortis the ship could reside in a phased out state

What if instead of the Yuuz Zong Vong invasion fleet, it is an ancient sect of the Rakatan Empire that fled the galaxy to escape the plague?

So we think the rikataan fleet would still be salvageable after 30k of degredation?
