@shadowblade1453 жыл бұрын
It's actually kind of perfect if you think about it (though I agree, axing so much lore all at once was a bad idea). Legends are generally tales told with some embellishment for dramatic effect - but there's almost always some truth to it. This allowed Disney to say "yes, it was true, but xyz was different". They essentially get to pick and choose the best parts of legends to become part of the broader story and discard some of the crazier stuff (there was... A lot lol). What they *actually* should have done is put Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau in charge of lore in the first place.

There's others, sure, but some of the wildest stuff is in those early marvel comics or the early Droids and Ewoks series, which are actually referenced in Canon media. With all the crazy things Star Wars started out with, I don't think anything should be discarded for being too "weird." If you think maybe some later works should either be discarded or reworked because some people are kind of the opposite of team players (see: the Denningverse), I agree.

That Lucasfilm and George was retconning the hell out of legends. See extremely salty Mandalorians fans about Satine.
@JustinTK4165 жыл бұрын
I feel like Star Wars has fallen to about the state of Marvel in terms of canon, but without an expressed multiverse to allow them to just have different iterations of cannon to exist harmoniously. I mean, even before the buy out, there were a lot of retcons (I mean, Boba Fett was originally a Mandalorian cop in a novel I forget the name of), and now the majority of the prior canon has been dubbed “Legends” and tossed aside. Well, the way I see it, everything is legends, because every author, writer, and director that has made Star Wars content has their own mental image of what the universe is like when they write their story, and minute details, or more esoteric lore elements are often sidelined for the sake of the story they’re trying to tell. So naturally, we tend to just pick our favorite stories and say that they’re the real canon, and everything that doesn’t agree with them is either new tacked on crap, or was rightfully retconned to allow a better iteration of the lore to come about. Hell, my personal interpretation of the lore basically involves the whole universe as being a Matrix-esque simulation, with the force being a chaotic aspect of the design intended to ensure turmoil persists. All the while some group of meta-dimensional beings try to fulfill some unknowable goal that could decide the fate of an incomprehensibly expansive omniverse.
@henrik67395 жыл бұрын
Some Legends stuff was GREAT, some was bulls**t. People complain about the prequels' politics "it doesn't fit into star wars ", but what about those crazy stories about green bunnies, extra-galactic orks and hyperspace ghosts, THAT doesn't fit into Star Wars imo... Though, in the end, anyone can say for himself what's Canon and what's not. If you want to, you can even say, Luke Skywalker isn't Canon, but Batman is! But I'm personally happy about the "retcon" , even though it deleted KotOR...😢
@JustinTK4165 жыл бұрын
CXVII 117 R As someone who knows as much Legends lore as they do Disney lore, both have some bs. The difference is that Legends gets it from having been around so long and having so much tacked onto it that it collapses in on itself. Disney, on the other hand, seems like they just want everything they make to be canon, but the thing is, there’s just so much difference in tone and target audience that the canon is just kinda seems patchwork and arbitrary.
@JustinTK4165 жыл бұрын
henrik673 I always thought the hyperspace ghosts and other kinda creepy stuff is what made legends awesome. It showed that the Force wasn’t the only poorly understood, kind of supernatural phenomenon in the galaxy. And the creepy factor gave an ominous edge to the universe that really made it feel alive. Like yeah, it’s got some cool shit like force powers and advanced technology, but ya also get scary ass inter dimensional shit and the galactic underworld. ‘Course, the stuff like the green bunnies and whatnot was just kinda weird. Like, I can kinda get behind because I like a little weirdness, but to each their own.

Good information. The idea that the Celestials created the hyperspace anomaly is pretty much accepted by the fandom I've spoken to. However, it begs the question, Why? Logically, it can only serve two purposes: 1) to keep galactic inhabitants in, or, 2) to keep others out. The latter implies there is something bent on conquest and destruction. Certainly the Vong fit that profile. However, I suspect there might be something even more terrible than they, perhaps even something which challenged the power of the Celestials themselves. That would be something worthy of a great story.

Interested in the map at 2:51. It had episode 2 place Kamino in wild space; however, practically all the other maps I’ve seen place it in the outer rim, on the mid rim side.

Do you think that the Republic, Empire, Separatists, and Rebellion could coexist at the same time on equal terms in a theoretical timeline? If so, what events do you think would have to take place for such a thing to occur? I'd love to hear your thoughts. #askeck

#AskEck Why are there so many Humanoid & near humanoid races in star wars, whilst other species don't resemble each other in any way? Twi'leks Togrutas, Cereans, Tholothians, Nautolans, Kel Dors, Zabraks, Zygerrians, Pantorans, Weequays (or Weequi), Mikkians, Chiss, Rodians & Wookies, And that's just to name a few.
@mill27125 жыл бұрын
My guess is that most of these are offshoots of humans (Or an even older species.) which adapted and mutated differently in their new home planets. (This is flat out confirmed to be the case between Chiss and humans in legends.) Out of universe, is because they're easy to design, animate, and/or make costumes and makeup for than an original new concept species.

I always looked at it as the vong were from the sw galaxy, just a really old race and the galaxy was able to recover after the vong left. They did have a force sensitive member after all

Why did the uzang vong take so long to invade. It clearly shows that kamino is about 120-130k lightyears away from coruscant and obi wan traveled in a tiny amount of time in episode 2 so clearly the uzang vong shouldn't have taken thousands of years
