Jay what you are doing with these videos is really revolutionizing what it means for starting creators like me to learn. You perfectly encapsulate what my mind is trying to put into words 24/7. Thank you so very much, genuinely. and if you were even slightly doubting, yes you are having an impact.

Structure is the frame. The portait of the characters is the substance of the story. And together they hang on the wall as a piece of art for people to connect with. Good art makes you feel something. Positive or negative. Good storytelling connects with people on an emotional level. Terry Pratchett said it best - humans are the storytelling ape... "Humans need fantasy to be human..."

I'm so pleased you have slowed down your editing to tell better stories. Fast editing is exhausting to watch, because by the 2020s it came to mean that the video is trying to hijack your attention to stop you from clicking away. Imaging making videos assuming people were always about to click away. What does that say about how you see your own videos? But a good story told with the good pacing can be so gripping. I wouldn't even consider clicking away from it. Imaging being so brave that you add long lingering pauses and shots to let the right moments breathe. Give me the time to really feel what the story is doing and I'm 100% there for it. You channel will grow hugely in 2024 because of what you are doing these days. Get ready to stop paying too much attention to daily analytics and immediate attention metrics. And instead prepare for what being remembered over time feels like. It's a whole different game :)

I still struggle with this and you did a great job explaining it, in one take, in just about 5 minutes. Amazing! I don't think I could deliver a "talk" like this in my native language, let alone in English, the language I use in my videos. I can't wait for your next video! Your channel is greatly underrated at this point but I'm sure people (not the algorithm) will soon start noticing the value!

I've been stuck on a few Before & After videos. If my story is told without and explanation I realized that in the KZbin world people don't always watch to the end. To fix this I came up with a plan.....and then, I saw this video that showed me I was on the right path to a solution. tHanks for the video.

100% And to add, I've come to realise one reason Mr Beast is so big, is because we resonate with his entire story arch. I can't help but flash back to images of him struggling in his bedroom everytime I see one of his vids. Every one of his videos has the character elements you talk about, AND his entire channel is one big character story arc. I find myself watching his videos to support him even though I don't know him and they're not really my vibe 😅

So in essence its this: - Storytelling structure isnt what makes a good story great. 3:00 - 3:14 - However with no structure you are missing out and certainly also wont get a story to be great. (written between the lines in the snipped shown from the book. "and its structure ought to be present" 3:47 ) - Structure can be therefore seen as level 1 on the difficulty scale and for level up to level 2 in terms of storytelling this video applies (derived from the point above) - Most important point of the video made: What makes a good story great: >how BIG OF A SACRIFICE [protagonist] has made for the (goal)< 4:21 - 4:31
