Speaking of how this is described as the ancient hero and looks like a Zonai, and the Zonai are said to have been basically God's I wonder if this was the first link like the very first. So from SS we understand that there was a battle between Hylia and Demise, one where Demise was winning at some point in time Hylia's knight Link was fatally wounded so she decided to allow her and himself to reincarnate. My theory is that this was the armor of that first link the God like one that is why he looks like a Zonai, it would also help explain why it fits link because its how he originally looked, Hylia turned herself mortal so it could be implied that when she made herself look like a Hylian that she made Link look like one as well.
