The Secret's Out. The Perfect Men's Travel Pants!

I appreciate the review as I am always searching for better travel pants. I found Union Bay Rainier travel pants. These fit most of your criteria but are not convertible to shorts. They come in fixed waist or flex waist. Zipper rear pockets that prevent pick pocketing and a flush side cargo like pocket on the right leg also with zipper. 4 way stretch, UVP 50 and water resistant. The killer of why I have stuck with them after years of use and searching travel pants is they cost $36. I buy 3 pair for less than most single pair of other brands. I have 8 pair and wear them everyday summer or winter and had 1 rear pocket zipper fail. Zero other issues. My criteria for rear zipper pocket and a side pocket are features almost never met let alone all the other features makes these a killer deal.

Nice! I live in Central Asia where it's never really okay for men to wear shorts so I'm definitely interested in non-convertible stretchy pants with zipper pockets. I'm going to grab a pair of these to try out

A man after my own heart! I'm on the quest for the perfect travel pants. ...More of an addiction really as I'm looking for "the pants" and don't even get me started about backpacks lol. Can't get away with shorts/pants combs but these look great on you and super comfy. Thank you for providing such a comprehensive review.

Very awesome!! Some of your criteria would not necessarily be handling requirements for me (convertable shorts, UV protection...and to a lesser extent, the athletic cut). But, I am definitely not opposed to all of your criteria. There are definite benefits in all of them. And, part of it may be I don't know what I don't know....or I don't know that I would want that feature. I will definitely try out a pair as I decommission some of my current pants!! Safe travels!!

Could you also add info on the list of pants that you tried and why you had rejected them? Curious to know if you had tried the covertible hiking pant options from Wrangler ATG (SPF 30) and Columbia Silver Ridge (UPF 50).

Sorry, I don't have a list anymore but I did try them both. For both, it was just the fit for me and the ankles weren't as tapered as I would like

@bentacular right. I forgot about that requirement of yours. As a big sized person living in a tropical climate without any winter season, the more baggy the pants, the better they are for me. Plus, living outside of US, I don't have the luxury of trying a pant for 100+$ that I can't return if I don't like it. But $30+ for Columbia or Wrangler is very doable for me.

@@senthiljams For most cases, they're not bad especially for daily wear. They are 2 very established brands with great quality. I made sure I tried out most of the pants before I traveled since I was going to be out of the country for a while and wanted to have them beforehand. I bought two and I was all set.

Do u have a recommendation for pants that are stretch/quick dry/ non- wrinkle and are a little more dressy - that essentially look like normal khakis?

They are ALMOST perfect. They need zippers at the bottom in case you are wearing boots you can remove the pants without having to remove shoes.

It is a very good pants but it does not match with a shirt, it is convertible pants with a formal shirt, looks ridiculous
