Curél is a great brand for anyone with sensitive skin. In Japan, that essence is available in three different versions, from thin and watery to thick and viscous, so people of all different skin types can benefit from it. But it seems like only one version is available outside of Japan, so the brand itself is also gatekeeping some of their own products, lol. I highly recommend the Curél Deep Moisture Spray if you can find it online somewhere. It's an aerosol spray and my HG winter dry skin pick-me-up. I keep like two backups, and take a mini version to keep at work.

I have both Haruharu sunscreens and the mineral one is the best I've ever used. Smooth and creamy, no stinging eyes, no white cast. I reapply after cooling down from gym workout before walking home.

James off topic but I wanted to say thank you for on multiple occasions talking about the “clean skincare” thing and how it’s change consumers perception of what is safe to use on their skin. I actually fell into that mindset and thought well it makes sense- I eat organically and it only makes sense to use organic clean products on my skin because it’s still going on my body and could potentially be harmful if I use a chemical that disagrees with my skin. Recently from your videos I realized how dramatized the whole clean beauty concept is and that I in fact used many products that worked wonderfully for me that were not considered “clean beauty.” I was really missing out and really missing these products. So I’ve slowly decided to go back to some of those products I so love and really work for ME. I also really appreciated that you said it’s not like these brilliant chemists and dermatologists were just like scheming to ruin our skin or something and that these are really talented people who have made some amazing, potent products. I will be incorporating some of my favorite products in with some “clean” products I’ve come to love to have the best of both worlds 😂❤. Thank you really for all you do, it is important and you shed light on a lot of issues that many of us wouldn’t normally have heard if not mentioned here (I don’t use most social media I.e. Instagram). Much love to you ❤

I loveeee Curel’s skincare line. I was so sad when Ulta in the US stopped selling it, but I stock up on YesStyle or Amazon when I can. The texture is so much nicer for sensitive and acne-prone skin than a lot of other brands.

I just bought that Haru haru sunscreen a few days ago, it’s on the way! I love their black rice oil, super lightweight and fast absorbing, with a slight pleasant herbal scent. I def want to try more from them

Wanted to love the Haruharu spf, but the chemical one doesn’t sit well under makeup, and the mineral one dried my skin out terribly!! (Skin type oily/combo and dehydration prone!)

It also does not sit well for my dry skin😅, i do not dislike the brand but maybe this is why skincare can be personal. Nicely formulated products does not guarantee to work on everyone’s skin.

At first, I really liked the finish of the mineral version, but it took FOREVER to rub in. I’d been using it for about two weeks and noticed I kept getting whiteheads, and then soreness around my nose because it was so dry. Could be a really nice sunscreen for some, my skin can just be quite picky at times! 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have used the SoonJung hydro barrier cream every day and have done for about 2 years, I used the pot but then changed over to the tube as it’s more hygienic and it’s fantastic. It’s great for my dry and sensitive skin and it makes me feel very glowy. It is a very light and somewhat watery mixture so you feel super hydrated afterwards. I would say it’s very similar to the a’pieu good night water mask and feels like a layer of hydration on my skin

Since you said you wish the Curel essence came in a spray bottle, you should definitely try their deep moisture spray. I was suffering from a damaged skin barrier recently after trying way too many new products that didn't work for me and the spray alone SAVED my skin. The fact that it's in a mist also makes it easy to use and to top up your skin hydration at any point without having to reach for a cream if you're feeling lazier/don't want to use your hands. I also have it in a travel mini and carry it with me at all times to top up during the day. Must try!

Theres 3 types of that curel toner, 1 is watery one and as the number goes up it becomes viscous. try the intensive cream its good!

Really? Have you tried Asian sunscreen filters? I can’t wear any American spf filter ingredients. They burn and sting my skin so bad 😮 But Asian sunscreens go on me like a moisturizer

I would say my fav makeup remover is always the Curel cleansing gel, better than all of the other popular Korean cleaning oils I have tried, including skin1004 or dear Klaire etc, also I prefer Curel cleansing gel than their Curel cleansing oil. The gel is the BEST!

I think Angie at Hot sand Flashy recommended the Haru Haru Black Rice sunscreen and it was a surprise because I hadn’t seen her review Korean sunscreens before (she my have and I jus missed). Anyway, I bought it about a month ago and really like it. I have mature skin but hat anything glowy, shiny, greasy looking and anythingthat stays tacky). So far it’s my most current fave.

If you like the Dr. Jart serum toner to cut down on steps in the morning, I recommend checking out the Cream Skin Toner & Moisturizer from Laneige (if you haven't tried it already). I also have oily skin, and I love using it in the morning before my SPF as a one-step toner and moisturizer. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and soft without being heavy or greasy. It saves me a lot of time in the morning without my skin feeling like I "skipped steps". The only downside is the packaging, the hole the product comes out of is a bit too big. Otherwise, great product! I think you'd like it, and meanwhile, I'm definitely going to check out the Dr. Jart serum!

I use Soon Jung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream and I love it because I have eczema and it’s very mild and non-fragranced. I’m at my 2nd tube now. Gonna try the rest of the Soon Jung line.

Hi James! Have you considered doing a brand review on Ma:nyo? They are quickly becoming my favorite brand in multiple categories, but their cleansers still confuse me a bit. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish differences between products from the descriptions given. Also, I second the comment below about a winter routine! I love using cozy products in winter since all the humidity and sweating stops. That's really when I tend to do all my masks and my skin generally looks much better because I'm not immediately sweating it all off!

I tried haruharu sunscreen and I hated it. It does have a nice finish, but it pills like crazy. I cannot imagine using it under makeup, re-application is terrible. I’m trying to use it up by applying it to my hands and my neck, but if I didn’t spend my own money on it, I would just trash it.

Can you please do something over the beauty of Joseon sunscreen 50++ as a sensitive skin type perspective, worked fine for me the first two tries and loved it, but something - changed maybe hormones ?? but my skin seem to have not liked it, It was tingling a bit, but then after about an hour or two when I got away from virtual meetings, I washed it off. Later on I realised it had burnt my jawline and I had reacted with tiny bumps all over my forehead and cheeks. Got prescribed anti histamine. Looking online there are so many people who have experienced the same. It was hyped so much and nothing I saw about it not being suitable for sensitive skin. I have used so many different types of sunscreen and never had a reaction like this to any cream ever.

From what I am hearing and reading, how many different layers of stuff am I supposed to put on my face with a daily skincare ritual? There's the cleanser, the toner, the serum, the moisturizer and finally the foundation. Did I forget anything? Do you realize how much time and energy that takes if I'm supposed to do this daily? I love the Dr Jart Ceramidin moisturiser and the serum. But their square packaging of the serum makes you waste so much I switched to the moisturiser in a tube. Far less waste for not cheap products
