In these Stories we normally View humans like the other races view orcs in a Fantasy Novel. We (Humans) share the same characteristics and personalities as orcs. Humans are normally treated as the outsiders and barbarians. Humans tend to be underestimated as well in these stories. Unlike Humanity Feck Yea , these don't always put a positive spin on humans\humanity sometimes looking at the darker side of human and humanity from the perspective of aliens.

The only definitively sapient creatures on this planet are the majority of the great apes(which we belong to) the majority of cetaceans, most octopi, and Corvids. A creature needs a certain level of abstract thought, problem solving skills and consequence recognition, as well as a sense of self and object permanence before they are considered sapient. The fact that dogs and cats don't recognise their own reflection unless trained too, is an indicator that they are merely sentient, not sapient. Doesn't mean we won't eventually uplift them into full sapience, though the order on that should really be Apes, Corvids, Dogs, Octopi, Cetaceans(Not Dolphins and Orcas though, they're both complete psychopaths as a species) and THEN cats, can't go giving cats full sapience and thumbs until we out number them by at least 1000000-to-1 The reason dogs are third, is because we should use apes to learn given that we have a template for what a fully sapient ape should look like brain wise, and Corvids would be the easiest to learn what to do with non-simian brains and body plans.

Even worse from their perspective would be Go. Chess is a solved game, meaning we can program a computer to do better than a human and there is a theoretically perfect move in response to any given move. Go is an even more complicated game that is insanely deep and extremely difficult to master. Chess is simple by comparison.

Or the tree and four players versions. And those on an hexagonal board version for six players. Then, there is infinity chess, played on a boundless board. There is also some versions of Fantasy Chess with some crazy pieces. More pieces played on 9x9, 10x10 or 12x12 boards.

Hmm... if aliens can't beat humans at chess, wouldn't that mean that they're bad at strategy games in general? Especially turn based ones? Oh, and the reason humans win when aliens have better tactics is because strategy trumps tactics. Tactics is all about how you fight. Strategy is all about deciding when, where, and even HOW it's best to fight. Strategy dictates tactics. And then going a step beyond that, Logistics dictates Strategy because Logistics determines where you can fight and what's worth fighting over. Which is why professionals study Logistics.

I noticed that the alien is focused on tactics...not strategy. Hmmm. Second story The types of domestication have been categorized and studied. Cats do not fit. It is a valid scientific hypothesis that cats domesticated humans. If cats domesticated humans, then they are arguably the dominant lifeform of our planet with humans a close second. The same logic does not apply to dogs however. You would have to make a separate argument for that. Story idea: Alien invasion sees humans as servant race fighting on behalf of their (protected) masters. How might this go wierd? Include 2 or 3 third party alien groups. Think about them staying out of the war itself and focusing on the equivalent of 'humanitarian' missions. Free the humans being forced to fight their masters wars, and things like that. Perhaps they would attempt to re home some freed humans on another world? (Too cliche?) What would be more original? Their equivalent of doctors without borders could also treat injured animals. Also, try to picture them attempting to obtain surrender from our pets, not the human servants. Any cat has the authority to tell them to p*ss off, but who would they think has the authority to handle an actual surrender?

They say moderate players think of the next few moves good to greater players think 10s of moves ahead, but masters think in patterns not specific moves ahead. That said, we make machines that can beat our master players hy brute force. Not best choice for a game humans can't lose. On the second story, cats maybe, but dogs (while generally wonderful and trainable) are pretty stupid.
