I was 350lbs and basically starved and cardio'd my way down to 220lbs but it was unsustainable and I soon put that weight back on and got back up to 290lbs. Since watching Mindpump ive learnt a ton and slowly but steadily focusing on putting on muscle. Currently at 264lbs but feel a lot better, eating well and have more energy than ever before. Keep up the good work guys. Y'all are changing lives for the better

Have you tried low calorie high volume foods? It has made weight loss much more comfortable for me.
@cactusjackhausen85082 жыл бұрын
@@stashbeardsley1616I''m fine tuning. For a while I was solely focused on hitting 200g of protein a day (to help build muscle) but without tracking anything else like calories, carbs or fat, I realised I was going WAY over my calories for the day and ended up putting on weight, a lot of it was fat. Now i'm focusing on lean sources of protein like chicken breast, lentils, legumes etc and trying to track and keep my calories down.

Bro, i was 347 and im at 313 right now and i seem to be stuck there… any tips?
@cactusjackhausen85082 жыл бұрын
@@37CEMEKA Focus on strength training. Lifting weights (especially compound lifts - barbell squat, deadlift, bench press) Get yourself a set of scales that tells you how much body fat and how much muscle you're packing (it will also give you your BMR - amount of calories burned at rest) Track EVERYTHING you eat (it can be tedious but you need to know as its SOO easy to go over your calories for the day) i measure everything i eat in grams (or ml if its something like milk) and then look at the packet and calculate how many calories, how many grams of fat, carbs and protein ive just consumed and write it down. You want to run at a calorie deficit to your BMR but you also wanna try and hit about 200g of protein a day to minimise any muscle loss (along with the strength training) People with a high body fat percentage like you and I can actually lose fat while building muscle at the same time providing you're strength training and getting enough protein whilst in a calorie deficit. Disclaimer: im not trained or certified in any way. This is just what has been working for me

If people ate just a bit less food, drank more water, walked daily and lifted weights 3-4x per week they'd see solid results. But social media has created pressure for unrealistic aesthetics and made it seem way more complicated than it actually is. 👎

As a recovering anorexic and chronic over-exerciser, your research based videos have given me the confidence to finally stray away from bodybuilding. Competing isn’t for everyone, after 3 bikini competition shows, it really has messed with my mental state, relationships, body image, and passion for fitness. But after this past year of gaining 15 lbs despite lifting sessions and CrossFit daily, and getting super frustrated with my lack of progress and just an overall crappy mood…it’s been a breath of fresh air to have stumbled upon your channel and finally given my body the break it needs. I am focusing on compound movements and getting stronger on a legit program, rather than running myself into the ground with CrossFit and cardio like i thought i HAD to. Thank you!

I started lifting weights a year ago, which is when I found Mind Pump. I am in my late 30s, female, and have been overweight my whole life. Diagnosed with PCOS when I was 17, losing weight has always been a struggle. I have only lost weight in the past from severe calorie deficits and lots of cardio. I’m at the point where I am comfortable with lifting and my routines, but I think I need to follow a complete program and focus on diet at the same time (eating more than I have in the past). When I lost weight in the past, I lost legitimately all of my muscle, despite always having had a muscular physique. I have been able to build back a lot of muscle over the last year and am thankful to have found Mind Pump.

Adam talking about his Achilles injury really hit home with me. I snapped my Achilles and had to get it surgically repaired in 2012. I play rugby but hadn't for a few months. I then went to play touch rugby in the park - allegedly a fun non-contact version of the game for a bit of fitness and rugby skills. I just went to run and felt like I'd been kicked hard in the ankle and actually accused an opposition player of doing so before thinking and realising he was in front of me. After a year of rehab and a bit of cycling I began training again and have been playing every season since. Only two years ago I started lifting and for the past year have been putting in explosive movements like box jumps, snatch-grip high pulls, ice-skaters and jerks. Love doing these and really helps with rugby - as well as mobility exercises.

Down 85ish lbs on my own in just a shade over a year Mostly from Diet Cardio and only 2 months of lifting. Lost 100lbs in the past but gained it back over the years. Now I'm looking to keep going and keep it off forever. Been stuck at 295-300 for like a month which is frustrating. In fact I actually went up to 305 or so which was even more frustrating. but I'm hoping some recompositing is taking place considering I'm hitting the weights hard again. At 5'8 my Final goal is 175-190 maintain and in 1 year down to 225lb. Glad I found this podcast. The most encouraging thing is that A) I know I can do it because I've done in in the past and maintained at 175-190 for several years and B) Having been a consistent lifter even when I was heavy in the past along with being lighter It seems to be coming back to me after taking like 5 years off being a complete slob. I'm to the point now where I'm going to have to figure out how to count calories. I'm eating healthier but honestly have no idea how much I'm eating each day. I went from eating 5 meals a day 3 or so hrs apart to 4 meals 4 hrs apart and now 3 meals 5hrs apart.

I bought a scale a while back (as most do for weight loss) but it's no longer my biggest indicator. I see my PRs in each lift as a much stronger sign. My energy levels are also a strong indicator. I've been able to focus on re-composition rather than weight loss and that has led to being leaner and stronger while being in the same weight range.

That's funny back in the early 2000's I got a hold of a book about static contraction training! It basically was 5 or 6 total exercises and you loaded up like 130% off you 1 rep max you take the weight to the peak contraction and hold it for like 30 to 45 seconds and you were done. The whole workout took 15 min lol! Then you didn't lift shit for 4 days! My friends thought I was crazy and I did it for about 2 and a half months before it drove me crazy not lifting so I quit and went back to 6 days split. I did put on quite a bit of muscle not sure if it was newbie gains still it also let me recover from a few nagging injuries! I wish I could remember the name cause I've actually looked for it since. You guys have any clue? Going thru prime now can't wait to try aesthetic!

I end up doing most of my lifting (full body 2-3 times a week) very late at night. 830-10pm. I know you shouldn't eat too close to the time you head to bed, but should I fit in a protein shake after the lift? I usually try to be lights out between 1130-12. Feels counterproductive.
