I remember at some point I avoided seeing videos with similar titles because at the time, I had- what I thought- a healthy, stable weight. However, when I came out of orthorexia I noticed I did gain weight. It was like 10 pounds at the most and I also realized my body has gotten fuller in appearance (according to my mom) since I stopped working out as much as I did before. There are times I wish I could go back to that weight and look as I did but at what cost? I was restricting food, working out constantly, eating unsatisfying meals and overall didn't feel good. Now, I feel amazing. Like with breakfast: I eat oatmeal banana pancakes with (regular cow's) milk and get to a satisfying full. Unlike before where I ate eggs with veggies (good but I got sick of it). Variety is key. Just like balance is. As for my body: I still workout. I do Pilates and sometimes go on walks with my mom. However, despite gaining weight, it has stayed the same since. I do worry that I might gain more weight as I grow older, but I have to remind myself that I eat balanced, whole food meals everyday while listening to my body at the same time. (I have a tendency of jinxing things so I hope that remains true). Overall, the feeling of fullness, and satisfaction makes me know that I am healthy. So, despite losing what I had before, I gained something better. And I have you, Lucie, to thank for. As for anyone reading this: do not be afraid of positive change.

That hunger cue chart is so good! Im autistic/adhd & sadly I'm a fat one. All those lucky neurodivergents who "forget to eat" make me jealous. I'm pretty sure that one of the ways I stim is to eat. I love having something in my mouth (lol). I think about food a lot & get hungry fairly quickly after a meal. Usually 2-3 hours later. Like 50 mins later if its porridge, that is the worst food for keeping me full, but I digress. I find hunger intolerable & overreact to the feeling. While my hunger is over-active (& eating whole, nutritious foods does ease my hunger considerably), I'm not in tune with fullness. I also can't differentiate between when I'm actually hungry & when my mouth just wants something in it (ffs i can't write this comment with a straight face). I can use that chart now. That's a good start. I do not know how to suss out & control the mouth hunger vs real hunger though. It's exceedingly difficult to stop a compulsion to stim. I wish my stim was aerobics hahaha

My weight really climbed once I moved back to Australia in 2022 and I got away from shift work, which also meant I wasn't expending nearly as much energy as I had been in my previous job. I also had a poor relationship with food, and intuitive eating is not something that has ever been taught to me growing up. I would just eat, constantly. Making a change for the better, I'm working on that relationship. I'm at the point where I'm maintaining, and not putting on more weight, which is good. I'm definitely still learning to listen to my body, and while it's slow, I'm starting to understand the feeling of being full. I'm eating smaller portions, which in turn is making me feel less lethargic after a meal. I'm still trying to pick up on hunger cues. I'm going from feeling fine to "feed me now otherwise I'm going to chew your head off" in the space of about 5 minutes at the moment, which isn't ideal, so I'm working on that. I've found every time I try "dieting" and eating in a calorie deficit if I go over a kilo or two of weight loss in a month, I will become ravenous and gain all the weight back. Through trial and error, I've figured out that the best rate for me to lose weight and not have my body freak out is about a rate of 1kg a month. I've lost 4kg since Jan this year, and while it's slow, I'm losing in a way that I'm able to maintain, and my body isn't having a massive freakout and demanding I eat more food to gain the weight back. I'm on the verge of dropping a clothing size, which is great. Not there yet, but hopefully will be a full clothing size smaller by the end of the year, and fit back into the clothes that I bought while living in the UK. 😁 I need to work on being physically active some more, which I'm trying to do. It's getting colder and darker now as we head into winter, so it's becoming more of a challenge. Anyway, thank you for all your education and support over the last couple of years. I've learnt a lot from you, and it's making a difference.

I've said it before & I'll say it again. You have a unique way of thinking in very specific terms about subjects, & breaking down/delivering your ideas that can be found nowhere else. It's natural & common for people who know a lot about a topic to miss steps in teaching because it seems so simple to them, or they mistakenly think everyone would know it, or they dont even realise all the steps because the info is so ingrained. You don't miss steps. You're a one-off; you have a talent & gift & it's not your degree, it's the way your brain works. Nobody thinks to tell us the specific things you tell us, even though nutrition & weight advice saturates the web. Your content is so helpful & unique. You're a treasure, the internet is so lucky to have you!

I don’t care that I’m bigger I just don’t want to keep gaining weight and become unhealthy. Im on a medication that makes me gain weight no matter what. it causes metabolic syndrome which is sad but I don’t want to starve myself and become miserable. I gained 30 pounds on this medication I tried to diet which I think is the problem as well.

To be fair, most people are influenced by the working day as to when they get to eat. School/work is usually structured around the time clock, not the body clock!

what are your thoughts on grazing, I have found over the years that I feel the best and weigh the best if I do not sit and eat meals, but set the meal aside and just eat off of it for a couple of hours. unfortunately, this does not work well when raising a family and feel it is important to have a meal together at least once a day. I ended up settling on grazing during the day and then having a small amount of food at "dinner" and then have a few bits of dinner later that evening. anyway, what is a dieticians' take on the concept of grazing instead of 3 meals a day?
