Im a new Host, and just had an amazingly high rental history in the last 30 days of hosting my new 2024 Toyota Corolla Hybrid. And a few days ago, I received a new rental for 35 days straight starting Dec, 3rd. I unfortunately had the discounts set at recommended, and lost $350 due to the suggested discounts. Thank you for posting this video, as you have opened my eyes to lowering the discounts so as not to lose so much revenue.

Just started Turo....thanks to you! Had my settings on book instantly, stated guests must follow the law, got two guests. Both have driven the car 99mph or above. Drove above 85 even after I told them to slow down, showed them the telemetry data. Highest speed in the area is 70, most 65. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!?!

Thank you kindly! I’ve been renting a 2019 Ford Flex consistently for about 9 mo now. I was wondering why it didn’t have any bookings for the last part of Nov-Dec 15th. Turns out I messed up a calendar block.🤦🏻♂️ My in-laws were here so I blocked it out for them to use but put way too many days on it by accident. Anyway, this video reminded me to look at my settings. Rookie mistake.😂😂

You got to mention the type of renters you attract with some of these settings like one day rentals, auto booking, dirt cheap pricing and 1 hour advance notice. Depending on what area you’re in you severely increase your chances of getting high risk guest. All money isn’t good money.

I will tell you my experience with Sentra 2016 32$ a day making little over 350$ a month 140 for Insurence Oil change is 120$ Tires are 500$ let’s say u do it yearly 350x12=4200$ it makes me a year After 21k miles added to my car and after I payed Insurence and Turo changed tires and oil had left me with 1000$ for a year it will take me 10 years to pay it off

@RafaelTorrez-zc3wl8 ай бұрын
That oil change price is suspect too. You must go to somewhere like Jiffy Lube which is costing you way more than you should be paying for a rental. Even Walmart is around $40-$45 for that car.

GREAT INFORMATION on the settings and very thorough explanation of what each change means in the real world. Questions: - Do you think having calendar blocks could hurt a host's ranging with the Turo algorithm in a competitive market? - (Suggested Episode Topic) With having so many cars at a low price point, do you encounter a lot of problem renters? If not, what are you doing to avoid things like renters trashing or smoking weed in your car?

Okay I got a question. I have one vehicle on Turo currently. How do you handle vehicle maintenance if someone is renting your vehicle for months at a time? Obviously, you don’t want your vehicle being driven for thousands of miles over a oil change. What if it needs breaks, tires, etc. Thanks!
@TortoiseCashFlow Жыл бұрын
My guess have the guest bring it to a mechanic and pay them. It's to be expected if your a guest renting a car for months that it will need to be maintained

That’s what I do, I had a guest go 1400 miles away. They started with a 2 week rental and kept extending They ended up using the car for 6 weeks. I let them know if oil was due to take it to a shop and I’d just pay the shop over the phone.

Wonderful tips Aubrey! I have an interesting question! Let’s say someone books one of your cars in the middle of the night at 3 AM with a 1 hour notice. Since you’re most probably going to be asleep, how do you verify the guest identity so that he can have access to the lockbox? Do you have an automated message that sends the guest the exact code?

Its pretty stupid that people rent cars for months. Like, just buy your own car bruh. Say you rent a car thats $35 a day for a month thats $1,050 a month you are spending. Just have a $300 to $400 car payment a month. Smh.
@BeeCheap-uc3tc5 ай бұрын
As a car owner, you only mentioned the car note and left out car insurance and maintenance on the vehicle. Maintenance can be extremely high as the car ages, and car insurance can also be really costly if you don't have a clean driving record, or you live in an area that tend to have a lot of storms. In addition, long term renters usually will come at a nice discount, so the rate can be significantly cheaper than the $35 day rate that you quoted. Of course this will depend on the company, make model, and city. Due to all of these factors, some people actually come out cheaper by having a long term rental vs owning a vehicle.

I don't believe you are successful at Turo. I think that you are subsidized by your husband doing the mechanical work. Can you separate the Turo job from the Hubby Mechanical Service and have him charge fair market value for repairs? I would be curious to see a fiscal quarter broken down like that.
