Great information! My first car was a 14' Mazda 2. Got it for 4k (Miami car), so it had a lot of hidden problems. Preformed very well for the year I had it on the platform. Utilization was high, about 75%. Only problem I had is that little issues kept popping up while on trips; ie sensors, leaks etc, which affected trip quality, killing my margins and turning into bad reviews. Anyhow super budget cars are a great start with the caveat of making sure maintenance is a priority. Recently sold it for 5k and on the hunt for the next vehicle.

Every car on this list will begin to have problems after 120k I bet ya. I would recommend Honda/Toyota alllll day long in starting my fleet soon plan on a Corolla and Camry

You just set aside money each month for repairs- usually $250 for Turo cars and $350 for HyreCar/GetAround(Uber).

How is it possible to find thise prices on cars?? I have payed my Nissan Sentra 2015 for 7500$ Got oils change and new tires for 600$ I am renting it 3x a month for 32$ a day let’s say I make around 360$ a month I have 140$ Insurence and had broken windows twice! haven’t bank any money for a 7 month

Aubrey do you rent out cars on a private rental agreement ? That's what I want to do but am having a hard time getting insurance. By private rental agreement I mean renting out my car to a professional driver who will use it to drive gig-work- based rideshare or deliveries etc.

Very interesting. Why do you upfront exclude all Nissans and Kias? We have a Nissan for personal use and it's completely trouble-free (it's a 2018, though). Just interested since excluding these two makes does not leave too many options in the budget segment.

2018 is pretty new compared to the years of cars she buys (2012-2016) you won't really see many of the big problems on a 2018 car yet. but yes i feel the same as i would like to know about kias since i have 1 in my turo fleet

I'm trying to find this out as well. So far, my search has led me to these choices. Small Market city/town a simple economy car: Toyota Corrola, Honda Civic, etc. Small Market & Near an airport look for a Smaller SUV: Nissan Rogue, Toyota Rav4, Chevy Equinox, etc. If you're in a busy tourist area, look for the larger cars, preferably hybrids: Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, etc. Tourist area near the airport look for a slightly larger SUV than the ones I mentioned above, but you may do well with the smaller ones. If you're in a major city (Miami, LA, Las Vegas), you could get away with higher end cars like BMW, Mercedes, etc. Do not take this information as 100% fact, always do your own research and purchase wisely. I'm still trying to find out for myself but so far this is the gist of what I've found. Hope it helps.

Isnt max ODO reading allowed on Turo is 130K miles ? How are you able to use a 200K mile vehicle in your fleet, I am confused. I want to buy a Lexus SUV for personal and Turo use, and all I am getting most lexus is no less than 19K USD and Lexus Sedans at 15K USD... 2015 and above, with less than 110K miles.

12 years and 130k for cars new to the platform. You’re grandfathered in afterward depending on condition of the car. You don’t have to remove a car that was ten years old with 80k when you started just because it’s 13 years old now or has 200k. Pricing is relative. This person keeps their fleet booked by being one of the least expensive in town by significantly undercutting traditional rental cars. It’s only profitable to rent cars for 25/day if you can buy the cars for under 10k. A Lexus SUV would need to be priced over 50/day and you probably shouldn’t Turo your daily. Turo is not a good way to pay for a car you couldn’t normally afford to buy. Turo is for a car that you can afford to buy never drive yourself.

Stay away from Turo. Gave me a ban. Guest said I had low tread on my tires. I literally had a tire shop say I had the min 4/32. They didn't care. Since I argued the unlisted all my cars and cancelled all my reservations. I had 5 cars. Not fun

That doesn’t sound great. You argued that you kept your car at the minimum standard to be road worthy. Most shops consider 4/32 to be 90-100% worn. Instead of getting new tires because they were nearly worn out, you tried to argue. At what point would you have replaced them? 2/32? You earned your ban. You don’t seem to understand the complaint and that making customers feel uncomfortable is a huge problem for everyone on the platform.

@@R33GTRRRR My point that I didn't make clear is the tire shop recommended to not replace the tire. Strange I thought as it is their business to sell tires. I had a document from the tire shop as well. All I did, is ask that Turo themselves take a look at the tire. If they recommend replacement then I would. Unfortunately, they took that as me declining their Agreement to Abide. At no point, did I decline. I just asked for their recommendation, rather than a renter.

@@kamalsandhu91 I was making $2k a month on average of net profits. When I first started Turo, I bought 2 10 passenger vans. It was amazing money. $350/day. Without any warning, Turo switched insurance policies. If you weren't grandfathered into their Enterprise program you would have all vehicles with more than 8 seats banned. This of course, stung and should have been where I hung it up.
