Ty, Let me recommend a book for you... 'With Winning in Mind' by Good Medalist Lanny Bassham. His Mental Management system for athletes addresses the root cause of player performance and he also gives advice on bringing parents into the process. I have found that it is critical to get player's parents 'on-board' with your approach to the game as early as possible since few ever see what goes on in practice (where players earn their playing time). @@chuckallstar1281 winner as in a person or as in the league? Are we creating good people? Does every kid become a pro?? What’s your definition of a winner. Sounds to me like he has been successful at making good people which is more important than winning the league.

I coach at a high school in the southwest. The parents get after me for not yelling at their players on the court during a game. What do I say to that?

You tell them i understand and hear you. that’s not your style. Imagine if you talk to them instead of yell at them. Sure get on them once in a while. A pat on the head, a pat on the butt and a pat on the head. In that order

This guy said a whole bunch of nothing his b*tch ass looks like he can’t lift 100 lbs trying to tell parents to basically shut up and deal with the fact the coach wants to win more than he wants to create winners. I shouldn’t be paying money n time to watch my kid on the bench if that’s the case then Parents need to pay as much as their kid get to participate I bet they will play the kids then just for the money
