독일애들 한테 들은바로는 네덜란드어는 독일어와 영어의 중간 단계에 있고 독일인이 네덜란드어 못해도 대충 이해하고 네덜란드 인구가 적어서 자체 언어로 된 미디어가 거의 없다고 함

I believe another reason is that in the Netherlands it is relatively easy to meet foreign residents or tourists, plus many Dutch people go twice a year on vacation which provides opprotunity to speak English or other foreign languages.

전 항상 네덜란드어는 독일어 문법으로 된 영어 같다고 생각했어요. 사실 영어 보다 독일어랑 비슷한 단어가 많죠. Hallo-hallo Kind-kind hund-hond essen-eten morgen-morgen tag-dag abend-avond kleidung-kleiding 그래도 독일어 보다는 네덜란드어가 영어와 유사점이 더 많은 것 같아요.

개인적으론,네델란드어는 영어보단 독일어와 더 비슷한 점이 많은 것 같아요. 예를 들어,가장 많이 쓰는 표현인 I am 독일어:Ich bin 네델란드어:Ik ben 어떤 글에 영어랑 독일어는 6촌,네델란드어는 4촌이라 했으니까,독일어랑 네델란드어는 아마 2촌?ㅋㅋ

For the longest time I had been curious as to why most Dutch and Scandinavians speak English so well. Then I met some Danish travelers on a trip to Mexico last year and asked them about it. And they said the same thing - that they acquired English by watching English movies and TV. That made no sense to me but now that you mention it, it really must be the amount of exposure, which conditions the ears. As for speech, I think it is the fact that those are European languages, which have many similar sounds. So even their accents are easier for anglophones to decipher, whereas the accents of Africans and Asians (and I really do mean all of Asia) sound more severe to native anglophones because our sounds (and tones) differ by a lot from that of Europe.

I grew up in Germany, at the Dutch border. I learned Dutch mostly by watching Dutch TV, as a child when there were German shows with Dutch subtitles, later I watched shows in English with Dutch subtitles, which improved my Dutch further, as I had of course English at school. Much later when I've married a Dutch woman we switched from watching movies in English with Dutch subtitles do movies in English with English subtitles. That improved my English a lot. Of course I was always able to read English, but with this method I became able to understand al those different dialects and also fast spoken English. So Dutch helped me to learn two languages at once ;) BTW: Be aware of the "false friends" in English and Dutch language: "Ik fok honden" means something much more harmless than it sounds like. ;)

재밌는 영상이네요. 첫번째 이유와 관련하여, 네덜란드어와 영어는 가장 가까운 두 언어 쌍 가운데 하나에요. 코드스위칭이 자유롭지요. 한국인들을 기준으로 했을 때 가장 가까운 언어는 한국어-일본어인데, 한국어와 일본어는 같은 어족이 아니에요. 하지만 네덜란드어와 영어는 둘다 West Germanic languages니까 한국어-일본어 사이보다 더더욱 가까운 것입니다. 사실을 말하자면, 영어를 기준으로 출발하면 English ~ Frisian ~ Dutch 이 단계의 각각은 언어차이라기보다는 방언차이라고 말할 수 있을 정도로 흡사해요. 일본어와 한국어가 사촌간이라면 영어와 네덜란드어는 형제간이죠. 휘아 님의 말씀에 언어학적 정보를 더하자면, konglish라고 언급하신 것들은 영어 노출이 아닙니다. 버스, 카메라 등의 영단어에 노출된 게 영어 노출이라면, '정보', '국가', '전통' 이런 단어들을 사용하는 것이 '고대 중국어에 대한 노출'이겠지요.ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

네 정말로! Always happy to see a Korean knowing the Frisian language. Many people don't know about it. Frisian is actually closer to English than Dutch, but I must say I don't understand anything of that language hahaha. Also I learned something new about Konglish. I thought it was something taken from the American alliance during the post-war era.

Or in the case of my husband he first only heard the Dutch around him as jonge but then learning to speak was in Canada English speaking with French preschool so he still doesn't know how to say certain words like the non Dutch way but is not fluent to speak Dutch only hear. It can get confusing 🤣

This is always what i think of dutch people! I don't have any difficulties communicate in English with Dutchies. I think this is why my dutch is terrible haha and in my opinion, Dutch is somewhere between German and English so my German friends can read Dutch pretty well.

As for subtitling over dubbing, Korea stands aside with the Netherlands: Koreans also find it super awkward to dub a foreign language in, say, news reports. While in most English-speaking countries all the foreign languages in news are dubbed rather than coming with subtitles.
