Sadly, I don’t think mankind now possesses the knowledge to be like we were. As a kid in the 60’s and a teen in the seventies, I’ve seen massive change. Some for the better socially, but much good is lost, especially in music. There’s not much like this music that touches your heart like this anymore… praying for the human condition….

I'm the same age as Judith. I loved The Seekers in the 60's and I love them even more now. The melodious songs, the perfect harmony and the occasional change of key mid stream give me goose bumps. And as for Judith, she has the singing voice of an angel. I am thrilled to know she has recovered from her stroke. God bless you Judith.

What stuns me, or perhaps totally bewilders me, is how Judith thought she wasn't attractive. Bugger me she was an absolute gorgeous stunner! Face of an Angel, and a positively evil figure (in a good way!). To me she was / is one of the most spectacularly beautiful woman ever, definitely in music, up there with Agnetha and Anni Frid, and the Corr sisters! Of course unparalleled voice, but her personal qualities, her stoicism, her total devotion to Ron, her tireless work for the MND foundation, always bright and cheerful, gay disposition. Yep love her voice, besotted with her femininity, but total admiration for her personal qualities. Ron was the luckiest bugger ever! RIP Judith and Ron!

Yep, the boys were upset beyond words , but because of a 'six months of notice' arrangement previously made between them, which Judith suddenly activated, they felt they had little option other than to accept her decision ..... she simply had so much other solo work she wanted to fulfill, she also wanted to meet a partner, and she succeeded in both ... but at the cost of splitting up an immensely popular group that were really going places.

@@tilend89 As I understand it, Judith wanted to resume a solo jazz career that was interrupted when she joined The Seekers in 1962. She and Athol both worked at J. Walter Thompson in Melbourne. She married English musician Ron Edgeworth in 1969, but they never had kids. Much of their marriage was marred by tragedy: - In the 1970s Judith's parents died. - In 1974 her Swiss bank collapsed, leaving her almost bankrupt. - In 1990 she, Ron, and their road manager were badly injured in a car accident near Melbourne. The driver of the other car, a teenage girl, was killed. - As she recovered from the accident, she learned that Ron had motor neurone disease (ALS or Lou Gehrig's in North America). He died just before Christmas 1994 at age 56. After The Seekers reunited, Judith had a near-fatal brain hemorrhage in 2013. Fortunately she survived. I sent her this song that composed itself in my head, to a very recognizable tune; I e-mailed it to Judith, and an aide replied that she was thrilled with it. Hey there, Judith Durham Leading up The Seekers through the years You and all your mates gave us lots of fun And memories too - then suddenly Hey there, Judith Durham You had quite the nasty scare that May But your mates stood by you all the way And you pulled right through You ne’er were scared of changing and rearranging yourself Nor scared of jumping down from the shelf More than a little bit Hey there, Judith Durham You had quite the rocky road ahead But you brought out all the strength you hid And, oh, what a change there's been The world has seen a new Judith Durham

I felt bad for the guys in the group. She acted like twit and thought only of herself...typical of a teenager that she was at the time. She later admitted that she had no idea how much the others were hurt by her move, especially Bruce. She was key to the success of the quartet with her unique, strangely lovely voice, and when she left, the others were left holding the dang bag. Ironically , she was never as successful by herself, as she was when she was part of the Seekers. Thank goodness we have these videos of their singing. ❤️

Absolutely wonderful, takes me back to my earliest teenage years, when life was as clear as Judith's voice; I am sorry it has taken me so long to uncover this delightful set of videos. Not sure about a farewell; more about a re-discovered youth with limitless possibilities!

Yep, all we have now are the videos , the memories ..... Judith, at 77 years old, has already said she won't be travelling again , so the carnival does look like it's truly over.

The Seekers were my favorite folk group from the 60s, having grown up during that era.they are still my favorite folk group. I have their golden jubilee CD which I listen to quite often.thanks for putting up these videos I really do appreciate it. Thankfully the carnival wasn't over..... and it continues.

Joyful start to finish! Thank you, rich963, for this wonderful ‘Final Concert’ 4-part series (especially knowing that The Seekers later reunited (& that you have many other videos of their incredible performances)!

After watching the Grammys last night I had to listen to some good music today (Seekers, Everly Brothers, and Bruce Springsteen). It was like performing an exorcism to get all of that rap and hip hop crap out of my system. I feel sorry for the kids of today when they try to listen to this rap and hip hop stuff in the nursing home when they are 80. YIKES!!!
