I just returned from Australia last night. I visited Brisbane for a week and saw the Seekers with Andre Rieu, which made my dream of seeing them in concert (although a brief concert appearance) a reality. I have to say that in Oz, the scenery is beautiful, the people are friendly, and the men are good looking. Cheers to you, Australia, from this American girl from the South.

What a wonderful gift the Australians have given the World: The Seekers! Just read the post that the American 1st Marine Division adopted "Waltzing Matilda" as its official march. Shows how much those Marines loved, respected and appreciated the Aussies in WWII! If anyone has seen HBO's "The Pacific", that Marine Division endured pure Hell, while stopping the Japanese advance at Guadacanal. Quite a salute to the Aussies from those guys!

A crazy, random, never to be repeated, collision of the right individual talents into this thing we call the Seekers. O.K. I keep hearing they're "retired." Well that's their privilege. It's also my privilege to hope it's not true... They have an extraordinary gift: the ability to reconvene and produce music NOW -- as fresh and inspiring as they did 40, 16 and 5 years ago. I don't know if any group--even the Beatles, could do it with the integrity and ultimate satisfaction to the audience...

Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong, Under the shade of a coolibah tree. He sang and he watched and waited 'til his billy boiled, "You'll come a-waltzing, Matilda, with me." Waltzing Matilda, Matilda, my darlin', You'll come a-waltzing, Matilda, with me. He sang and he watched and waited 'til his billy boiled, "You'll come a-waltzing, Matilda, with me." Well, down came a jumbuck to drink at the billabong; Up jumped the swagman and grabbed him with glee. He laughed as he stowed the jumbuck in his tucker-bag, "You'll come a-waltzing, Matilda, with me." Waltzing Matilda, Matilda, my darlin', You'll come a-waltzing, Matilda, with me. He laughed as he stowed the jumbuck in his tucker-bag, "You'll come a-waltzing, Matilda, with me." Well, up rode the squatter, mounted on his thoroughbred; Up rode the troopers -- one, two, three. "Where's that jolly jumbuck you've got in your tucker-bag? You'll come a-waltzing, Matilda, with me." Waltzing Matilda, Matilda, my darlin', You'll come a-waltzing, Matilda, with me. "Where's that jolly jumbuck you've got in your tucker-bag? You'll come a-waltzing, Matilda, with me." Well, up jumped the swagman and jumped into the billabong; "You'll never take me alive," said he. His ghost may be heard as you pass by the billabong, "You'll come a-waltzing, Matilda, with me." Waltzing Matilda, Matilda, my darlin', You'll come a-waltzing, Matilda, with me. His ghost may be heard as you pass by the billabong, "You'll come a-waltzing, Matilda, with me."

Yeah, I'm an American but this song is so haunting and beautiful it really has no comparison. It is also so effectively used in Stanley Kramer's masterful film "On The Beach," it's aching longing so perfect for that film of nuclear obliteration. If you haven't seen it, rent it or buy it. It is fabulous.

Sorry owg59 you got it wrong. I think it is more like 99.9% !!! I cant think of any of the present generation of well known singers who come anywhere close to the wonderful voice that Judith had - and still has. Not only that but she enjoyed a 25 year marriage to Roger that was so tragically cut short by his premature death from MND. Not only that but how many modern pop idols refrain from smoking drugs alcohol etc. that Judith does. Just saw the seekers have a tour that includes the UK next year. Really hope I can get to it.
