UPDATE: they just released a statement saying Joost made a threatening GESTURE at a camerawoman after repeatedly telling her to NOT RECORD him. It was against the rules to record him at that time as he just ran offstage after his performance and had to hurry to the greenroom! He had indicated that he did not want to be filmed. Because the camerawoman continued to film anyway, he made a 'threatening move' towards her. "Joost didn't touch the camerawoman."That incident was then reported to the EBU and the police. AVROTROS says it has consulted extensively with the EBU and proposed several solutions. "Nevertheless, the EBU has decided to disqualify Joost Klein." The broadcaster calls the measure very heavy and disproportionate. "We stand for good manners, let there be no misunderstanding about that, but a measure to exclude is in our opinion disproportionate to this incident." Klein will not be allowed to participate in the final of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö tonight because of the incident. There ya go. On the news I understood that.. It was said that it had been suggested by the Netherlands (some people there who have been trying to help Joost with the incident) for this incident to be cleared and talked out (at the table between the woman and Joost). However the camerawoman did not want to get in contact with Joost nor any of the people with Joost who have being doing all they can to stop the disqualification. Joost is devastated. (And that the investigation will be continued on Monday?? Or follow-up??)

I don't remember who put up the poll but the poll asked the dutch people if they would watch the final and 89 procent said no. As a dutch person i'm mostly very angry at EBU and sad for joost. He worked on this for at least year and he came so far just for it to be taken away like nothing. Most of the Netherlands will be boycotting Eurovision it seems and i'm in no mood to watch either. What pisses me off the most is that the 'incident' is still being investigated. He already got prosecuted before the trail so to speak. Pharyngitis, for those who don't know, is an illness that causes your throat to be sore and it makes it very hard to even speak. Addendum, the Dutch broadcaster has send out a statement detailing the reason. Get this - after performing a reporter was filming Joost against protocol and against his wishes. He repeatedly told her he didn't want to be filmed. After continuing he made a "threatening gesture" towards the woman/camera, and this is the reason he was DQ'ed. What an absolutely bonkers decision. Just for setting boundaries.

I haven't cried like this since my father died. I ache for Joost...and Joost, if you read this, I love you--and I hope that it all works out in spite of EBU. I'm wishing that this disqualification backfires and Joost's career goes through the roof. It's not so much about "winning" Eurovision but what it can do for artists' careers. Top five for me (I've only listened to seven songs but you know what I mean) I was hoping Czechia would qualify because I really like Pedestal and it's a bop, but I'll cope! (ESC is genuinely a mess this year, though. It just gets crazier and crazier and I hate how anti-palestine it's being. The contestants are being amazing - Bambie using ancient runes calling for ceasefire was excellent. I do feel bad for the Israeli contestant - Israel houldn't have been allowed to compete but now she's going to get booed to hell and back as she performs and it's just nasty, really. I know it's always political but Jesus christ.)

This made me tear up, thank you so much for supporting Joost like this. Everyone here in the Netherlands is so upset and sad about what has happened, this boys dream was crushed.. he wanted to make his parents proud. He promised them that one day he would perform for Eurovision and he finally could. Sadly his parents passed away when he was very young. Which makes the whole situation even more saddening. In my eyes he was the winner of the evening, but Switzerland did amazing too! He deserved it! Hopefully we'll see him next year
