Honestly the best way to give life to your confederate army is to paint marine/sharpshooter/engineer/pilot squadrons of b1's and just 1 commander. It's not hard just make a line or dot on the chest and then paint the shoulders, you can even add the protective layer to make it harder to take off the paint by accident.
