It fits well with how he's a sort of proxy for Palpatine in ANH and ESB, where he serves as the lead Sith antagonist on Palpatine's behalf who is generally absent. A separate thought but also related to this subject: Vader has a very "grim reaper"-like quality in his appearance during the Separatist assassination scene.

This is how a character is earned; Anakin had trained and fought his entire Jedi life to protect and save what he loved, but he was ultimately let down by his Order and deceived by Sidious. His rise as Darth Vader the Sith, is also the downfall of Anakin Skywalker; fear and hate supplant optimism and love. It's tragic. It's sad. It's poetry that rhyme with opposite syllables. Simply beautiful and terrifying at the same time. Then there's Rey...
