You can tell that she is sooo happy with that cut. I cannot for the life of me get anyone in my area to understand this kind of cut. They chop off the back straight and leave the front COMPLETELY AS THE HORROR THAT IT IS. Wish I could go to him. This lady looks amazing and I am so happy she got that perfect haircut. She looks amazing because of this very talented beautician. Great job!

Beautiful cut and style Salon Guy. A few things impressed me. First, how well you explained what you are doing. Second, how modern the layers are cut with confusion. Third, the finish which I feel is the most important step of the process. And finally, a happy model. That should really be the most important process. Great Job!!!

Since I discovered Steven's channel and his symmetric layered haircut tutorials, I feel sooo sexy again, because I got myself a new scissors and went over my hair (again). IT looks GEORGEOUS!!!! I was not that happy with a haircut for more waaaay more than 10 years. Not one of these miserable haircutters could do that what I was able to achieve just by watching a few of his wonderful tutorials. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I have to say that I am absolutely OCD when it comes to my hair, a perfect cut lasts for several months, usually 4 to 5. My last DIY cut lasted from beginning of February to now, mid June. Needed just a little bit work.......and I feel like a Goddess again.

My mom was a beautician in the 80's and she was taught to pull a small section from the top /middle/ back section like he did to use as a cutting guide. Beauty schools must have dropped that technique because now stylists just grab sections & cut leaving massively uneven layers. I could tell the layers are uneven cause a good layer haircut takes longer than 6 mins- especially with long hair. Also, my layers never matched up when I rolled my hair in hot rollers. Now I cut my own hair, other than a blunt cut 1x a year to take a few inches off the length only.

My boyfriends mom was a beautician back in the 80's and she did exactly like you are talking about. In that time I had the most beautiful, blended long layers ever. Now...forget it. Why? What happened. If I try to explain the cut, I end up with a mullet. I don't understand what has happened.

I just found your videos (&you) while I was searching for a tutorial with lots of layers. I can't believe I actually watched the whole video! I usually don't have the attention span! LoL! But you were so engaging, I couldn't stop! I used to have a girl that gave me this haircut everytime, I love it and it's timeless, but she moved away and I haven't found anyone around me that can seem to do this! So, I've been trying to do it by myself! Not sure I could do this exactly to my own hair, but I'm confident I could on my sister's hair..so she'll be happy about that! Great job👍 and I loved her reaction!! Lucky girl!

I am so glad I found your video. That's exactly what I am after, flow and balance! I have the same style as your model, but a bit shorter. My layers in the back always end up wispy and just hang there and I don't like. I noticed you don't do point cutting in this video. My stylist does point cutting which thins out my hair too much sometimes, I have fine hair. And when I ask him not to do point cutting, I end up with a heavy thick head of hair! What is the reason to do point cutting? Also, I never know how to explain how I want the bottom line cut in the back. I like a straight line, not too thin, but I have a lot of hair in the back, and when it is cut blunt it feels thick and heavy. Is there a way to layer or stack the very bottom? I would appreciate your feedback, thanks for your very informative video.

Anyone can be "trained" and cut hair, just like anyone can follow directions and make a box of hamburger helper for dinner ... but a great stylist is an artist, like a chef. And you have to actually have an artistic eye to look at the lines of people's faces and proportions, and the ability to match someone with a style that fits their life. I would say like 30% of stylists fit into this, the rest of them would be fine working at the Hair Cuttery.

Thank you sooo much for your channel. Wondering what tips you’d offer for thinning bang area - your “money piece” area to offer more seeming volume. TIA!

Ok, I understand this is an older video, but I have to say this is the first one I have EVER seen that truly made sense to me. I started watching these because I decided I was going to try and cut my own hair~but now, umm NO, I just need to figure out how to translate this to whoever it is I find that might be able to do the same?! Arrgh! My husband just watched it with me and said; "Find him!" He is so afraid of me getting my long hair cut as we have had truly awful past experiences. I notice that you do not respond when others in the comment section ask where you are~which of course is what we want to know as well~but perhaps you know someone to recommend in the Phoenix AZ area?? Long shot, but had to ask=) Thank you so much for this post, all the same. Absolutely magnificent perspective on what/why/how/when with this haircut...with what you do all around actually, really inspiring and incredibly well explained and presented, imho. Thanks, in advance, for any further info you may offer~ God bless and Happy Tuesday to you! Samantha in AZ
