In my country we don't have a choice. Besides essence and catrice, we don't have brands that offer decent palettes. Brands such as ABH exist but one palette costs someone's salary, literally. Edit: my country has non convertible currency so we can't order internationally.

I have to say, I do like revolutions products, as shady as the company has been with duping, and I absolutely don’t agree with all the business decisions they’ve made, I love how affordable they are and the quality is pretty good with what I’ve tried (the eyeshadows can be hit or miss, but when they’re good, they’re GOOD). They also always have had one of the most make up heavy advent calendars I’ve come across (usually they’re full of skincare). As a student, I’d love to have an entire make up routine of high end brands, trust me, but right now that’s not realistic for me. I definitely think there are worse brands out there BUT DONT COME FOR ME PLEASE 😭

One of the reasons their advent calendars are so generous is because they are a fast beauty brand. They are literally up to their necks in low quality products they can’t sell. My first ever order from them 3-ish years ago, they sent me a SHIT TON of free stuff. A brush, a big ass eye shadow palette, a highlighter, another smaller eye shadow palette, and two lipsticks. I got more free stuff than I did stuff I paid for. They literally have more product than they know what to do with and it’s so wasteful.

I think the main difference between a dup and a replica is that I should buy a dup for what it is, for example, a primer, and then through using it realise it behaves similarly to another product. But if you buy a product from one brand expecting it to act the way a product from another brand does, purely due to the way it looks, then there's a problem.

I'm 41, and all this duping and copying has been going on since before I was born. Before KVD ever had her light and shade palettes, NYC Cosmetics had palettes with similar layouts, as did Collection 2000 (before it was simply called Collection). The Manny MUA diamond cut packaging design existed in the 80s and 90s. There were even keyrings/keychain lip glosses with that exact design. Before Revolution came along, MUA had dupes of the urban decay naked palettes, and had palettes like light and shade BEFORE KVD released hers. I'm sure if I dug around in the tray where I use old eyeshadow for art/colouring, I'd find them. Expensive makeup brands are often created in the same factory as budgets and dupes. The only difference is the ingredients amounts of certain items. What I have noticed is even expensive brands are using cheap ingredients, and adding in more irritants such as castor seed oil (ricinus communis oil), and also using palm oil. I've got a mixture of budget, dupes, mid range, and expensive cosmetics. Some are great, some not so great. I still have some of the very original Tam Beauty/Revolution, and Revolution Pro palettes, and whilst I don't use them on my face because I bought them years ago, the payoff and colours are a wee bit better than some are now. It's swings and roundabouts.

I completely agree w what u said about duping smaller brands, totally not on! I think dupes (of bigger brands) are a bit different, for example I only use cruelty free makeup so I love when a cruelty free brand dupes a product I wanted to try from a brand that tests, but I also do agree that there is a big difference between a dupe & a complete ripoff!

I’m sorry but I can’t say I agree. Saying Elf isn’t reliant on copycat makeup is incorrect. I can name at least 10 products that have the same packaging and concept as higher end brands. Revolution is doing the same thing. When you look at the products you think of the higher end brand and that’s the point, affordable luxury. Is the quality always spot on? No. But that’s not the point or the price point would be the same. No one is calling out Tarte for outright copying the CT contour wand. That’s a bigger problem for me. Affordable brands copying higher end/luxury is just how the world works. It happens in fashion all the time and again no one bats an eyelid. That’s how trends work. We can’t be mad at brands for copying each other, that’s just how the world works. Imitation is the biggest form of flattery… Let’s just leave it at that 👍🏼

Since then I got older and wiser so I realised I don't need as many palettes as beauty gurus own, I also only need a few blushes and bronzers. I feel like revolution beauty rose to relevancy when all the beauty gurus were super popular, and they pushed and pushed and pushed new products every week, and many people (especially younger and more impressionable - including myself) had the urge to have new stuff, and lots of it.

I enjoy some Revolution products, some are holy Grail status for me. I see buying from Revolution and similar brands no different than buying the generic store brand cereal (or any food product) over the name brand. The generics rarely taste different and they often look very similar to the original. In my opinion, having your products copied/duped is simply the cost of doing business. Whether a product is copied or duped, the end result is still pretty much the same as the original so I have a hard time seeing where the distinction matters. Maybe it would be better if every brand trademarked and patented their products if they are going to take issue with copies.

I don't own anything from Revolution Beauty. Some people treat makeup like a very structured step of their routine and the products just have to serve their purpose as is. For others, makeup is... a hobby, escapism, but they can't necessarily afford that beautiful pink, heart shaped box of too faced blush or whatever it is. So if said brand manufactures very similar packaging that's more affordable, I can't see an issue. Most makeup (lipstick,blush,eyeshadow etc) could achieve the same look. But alot of that charm and satisfaction is in the packaging. Someone who can't afford cosmetics from sephora shouldn't be made to feel disenfranchised by cheap plastic.

Nothing better were with blushes and highlighters, they smell like LITERAL BURNT CHALK and very easy to break. The packaging was made of cheap carton. And the worst, this pallete costed more than 1200 rubles in Russia (it is more than 17$ which is kinda pricey for Russian market), you literally pay only for Disney label and for exploited nostalgia for popular cartoon film, not for quality. I threw this palette in the trash bin very quick cause it got broken.

I'm a little late but still here for the engagement! Based on the name alone I'm intrigued, because their products have never worked too well for me personally. Idk if it's my skin or what but if they are shady anyway no point in me trying them again

I remember when I heart revolution and revolution first came out and it was so crappy looking in superdrug, worse then the MUA academy stand. I brought one of the knock off chocolate bar palate that they did and it was aweful, even though they repackaged some items I've had such an iky vibe from all revolution brands so I haven't brought anything since IDK how many brands they come out with.

To clarify, share price had nothing to do with the auditors concerns and the accounting probe. Share price reflects market information and is not particularly informative on the accounting practices of a company so for an auditor who knows information before the market and looks at the accounts, share price is not super relevant. The share price did plummet, but that was following the release of statements by the company, not before. The auditors raised concerns about various issues in the accounts which launched an external investigation, the results of this came out a few weeks ago. Various senior people in revolution stepped down including the Finance Director because of this.

I buy revolution because we don’t have a lot of makeup brands in my country 😢 I am really upset by the drama but I don’t have a choice.

these aren't the only time revolution stole from small brands, i've seen so much cases about that over the years i can't even remember how much, most of them weren't much talked about because they stole from small SMALL brands, they knew what they were doing and it's disgusting, i wish they stucked to making affordable dupes of products from huge companies

Im just starting the video but i do own 2 eye shadow pallettes from them and they used to be my go to for the longest time . For drugstore (thats where its sold here in canada) shadows i think they are pretty good.

It doesn't matter if I like them. It's one of the only brands available in my country at an affordable price point. If you want makeup, you probably own something from Revolution
@sailormooniii5 ай бұрын
Old video but I've religiously used the revolution concealer since I was like 13 purely because, although I love makeup I'm really terrible at it and just want something cheap that I know works instead of spending money on something I might not like. Also I'm really really pale so knowing they have a very pale concealer that matches my skin tone as I don't use foundation or anything is really good for me. That being said, when Revolution were first put in the Superdrug near me around 2018 I would go in with like £10-20 and buy everything because I was a young teenager and would rather have loads of cheap (and honestly crappy) eyeshadow palettes and liquid lipsticks rather than a Too Faced palette. Obviously now I'm older and only own the concealer still and I'd like to find something better quality in my same shade but I feel like I'm not good enough at makeup to justify experimenting and spending loads of money I could spend on a mascara I know I'll love. I actually never tried any Revolution mascara I've been using Benefit Roller Lash and now the waterproof Maybelline one basically ever since I had my own money. But yeah I think for kids Revolution is a great brand I had loads of their chocolate looking dupe palette's and I remember they had these hugeee palettes with like 100 shades that were basically just chalk but as a kid/teenager playing with makeup those were great and I think they'd be better of marketing to the Sephora kid generation so that their parents don't go bankrupt instead of stealing from indie brands and releasing new makeup every minute.

Which beauty sponge did you use when applying your face products? I love larger beauty sponges like that! Also I haven’t ever tried revolution beauty and don’t plan to…seems very sketchy

i hate that revolution seems to be such an icky brand, their concealer is the only one i've managed to find that actually has a good color for me (i'm a pale ghost and the lightest shades of most brands are always too yellow or dark for me lol)
@Crownslayer013 Жыл бұрын
I have the pink marble looking eyeshadow palette and the CBD "chilled" and they both perform really well and are really pretty. I also tried the concealer and the coverage is so good. I have the lightest shade and its hard for me to find a better match in other brands. They are almost always sold out in my country lol the price is super fair too; i really wish we had colourpop here.
@ashleyflores5289 Жыл бұрын
You saying fast fashion but makeup only makes me think of colourpop and their overwhelming constant new releases definitely not sustainable at all either

I used to buy from them because I have limited budget for makeup and all of the products I tried were very bad quality on me. Luckily there are other affordable brands accessible to me, that put out much better quality products

I’m lucky to live in the US where we have more makeup than we know what to do with-but I’ve only bought from revolution beauty once. I had a highlighter from them and I got compliments on it (it had a pink glow). They release so many things constantly and nothing I’ve seen really speaks to me or gets me excited to use them. I’ve been shifting to natural looking makeup so their products don’t really interest me (I’ve got plenty of rare beauty, Fenty and colourpop in my collection).

I used to work at ulta and they were not bought very often. It was usually only when kids would come and want to buy their kiddy brand or if they had something trending. Also their display they would give was always so trash and made no sense 💀 shit was always broken and their items were damaged more than any other brand. People would always break into their stuff and use it and we would have to throw all that shit away 💀 idk why

I've never used anything from the Revolution line, or any of their sub brands. I do use Elf and NYX, and a few Wet and Wild. I absolutely 💯 Elf, they create some wonderful products that work awesome! I love, love Color Pop Shadows. I'm working in 2023 to add a lot of Indie brands to my shadows! Don't know where to start! There are so many Indie brands out there!

Duping is one thing when you’re stealing from multi million dollar household name brands. But they know that shit was dead wrong when it came to Mani and the pink sugar situation 🥴

Curious how you feel about supporting brands that aren't inclusive whether it's with shade range in foundation or pigment that just don't work on darker skin, I am referring more bigger companies than small or new Indi brands I am more light medium skin tone but my sister is dark n that sucks when I recommend something that works for me but she can't find shade or product that works for her

When I was about 17 I loved revolution because it was affordable and pretty good quality (better than most drug store brands and way better than some high end ones like benefit) but since about 2018 the only thing I’ve bought from them is their baked bronzer. I don’t think it’s a dupe but honestly it’s amazing it looks so beautiful as a base for blush and just gives such a lovely glow and it’s only £3 (or used to be) but yeah I don’t really like endorsing them because it’s not only big brands they dupe it’s also small indie brands which is a joke, especially when a lot of the products they dupe aren’t even particularly expensive to buy from the original brand that created the item.
