"Beautiful World" proceeds to take on the Shadow Temple.
@israelchavez69753 жыл бұрын
Here are some fun facts that u didn't know unless u like looking up the lore of zelda or u are a Zelda veteran: -the shadow temple was a torture chamber that the sheikah used to interrogate & torture enemies of the Royal family. -the temple has connections to the Sheikah -the monster called Dead Hand had it's design reworked cuz it was a bit too bloody. The N64 version is bloody, while the 3ds' version is not. -In later revisions and the 3DS remake, Ganondorf and enemies' blood was changed from red to green, and the blood seen on the floor and walls of the Bottom of the Well and the Shadow Temple were removed altogether. Cuz of this, it's less creepy

Fun fact: when you talk to the old man in blue in kakariko, he talks about a man that could see the truth, which normally people only could do by training but he had a different way, and his house stood where the well stands now. He's referencing to the lens of truth. And it's also pretty clear the black mass that escapes the well is bongo bongo. The theory is that bongo bongo is the spirit or manifestation of this man. And that he stole the lens of truth from the sheikah. Which is why his hands and head are cut off (a common punishment for thiefs). Hands are also a repeated theme in both dungeons. The man also build the chambers under his house and nobody until link knew about it (they probably still drank the water yuck!) The shadow temple itself is where the sheikah took prisoners and tortured them for information or executed them. So they probably took him there. Ganondorf must have heard about it later and thought he could use the man's vengeful spirit.
@cullenlatham23663 жыл бұрын
And that is why this game is considered a masterpiece. I didnt pick up on the lore about the original owner of the lens of truth, likely because of the mindset "who talks to nameless NPC # 5872?" Does make me wonder if that lore connection goes even deeper by having anything to do with the windmill paradox? (Mysterious entity plays song of storms in the 7 year gap that link is asleep, victim teaches song to adult link, adult link time travels to the past to take the role of mysterious entity. Are mysterious entity and link the same person, or did link's time travel delete mysterious entity from existence? [or at least the theoretical character's only noteworthy action in the entire game without trying to force connections to existing characters. Sheik is the second most plausible from the context of their role in orchestrating link's journey as an adult.])

Also, there was a huge war between all the races in Hyrule that lead to Link being orphaned and ending up in Kokiri Forest. It's believed that a majority of the Shiekah race rebelled against the Royal Family, and it's possible they had an alliance with the Gerudo (both peoples are basically the bottom castes in Hyrule). The important part is that it seems that a majority of the Sheikah race were exterminated by the Sheikah themselves. The loyalists used the Spirit Temple for mass-executions. When you talk to the NPCs in Kakariko, they mentioned that only recently did Impa open the village up for Hylians, but where are all the Sheikah? It's supposed to be a Sheikah village, but there's not a single one there. Put two and two together... it's possible that Impa, the wise sage and "good guy" you are trying to save, commited genocide against her own people, because they didn't want to be a literal servant race. If Ganondorf was allied to the Sheikah seperatists in the first war, suddenly he doesn't seem like that much of a bad guy. Survivors of the genocide might also have been the start of the Yiga clan, but that's just my own speculation.

Thieves and murderers were taken there by the Sheikah to be disposed of. usually those who have broken the law directly against the royal family (hence why the Sheikah hid this place). Bongo Bongo can be seen as a murderer and/or thief, which the old (and in some places, current) punishment of cutting off ones hands for stealing. Bongo Bongo most likely was a murderer and a thief as his hands are dismembered (thieving) and his head is missing (decapitation). Also the Skulls flying around (decapitated prisoners), the stalfos showing up, and the floor masters (floating hands). Most of these points are backed up by the temple itself with guillotines and swinging blades, not to mention about every part of almost every room is filled with skulls on the floor, wall and roof. The Lore behind the temple is vague, but a lot is pointing towards these hints. Also the triangle wooden-pieces used to torture people for information, which is kind of harsh, but still... for those who went against the royal family. As for the horror creatures like the dead hand, it could be a manifestation of the anger/hate of the souls of those imprisoned in the temple after Ganondorf had revived Bongo Bongo. @@DraegoMH The remake locked the original Zora swimming controls behind the magic meter. They changed Deku Link's walk acceleration making pond skipping incredibly sluggish and slow. The bosses all got dumbed down and given gigantic eye weak points. Twinmold basically resets it's health bar when it burrows into the ground, making the fight literally go on forever if you don't know exactly where to stand and hit it. The Sheikah stones tell so much not just about what the player can do, but also about OoT's Hyrule...

But I think that of all these things, the race is going to be missed the most, because he is a recurring character. It has another meaning to meet the runner in the other games when you had this clash with him in the OoT. And the main thing: he is the protagonist of what was one of the great mysteries of that game. For good or for bad he is one of the hallmarks of the Ocarina of Time.

Good work on the Shadow Temple, man! When I first played it, I had a HELL of a time getting through it! I hope you take some time to mentally prepare yourself before you jump into Majora's Mask... It's really a game that needs to be taken slowly and enjoyed. The sort of game where you really stop and smell the roses, pay attention to the small details, and find all the secrets and side-quests. If you play it, it's worth being completed 100%.

It very interesting to see someone learning Zelda logic as they go along. It reminds me of the good old days. For me most Zelda puzzles have now become very easy, due to having expierenced so many I instantly know what to do at almost all puzzles I come across and the challenge is kind of gone. Still fun when you come across one that stumps me for a bit. I love that "eureka"moment.

Bit rough of that commenter to tell you you're bad at the game, I reckon you're doing pretty good for a first timer in this game. Bit of a tip on bosses like this - keep an eye on the little stuff that happens in the battle. For example - a couple times when you hit this boss it dropped arrows - this is the hint the game gives you for how to tackle the battle. Heaps of Zelda games do this, just subtle hints of "hey, maybe try this". You'll see it heaps in Zelda games. Anyway, love your work dude, keep it up!

Ey DB, sorry that parts of this journey were frustrating. OOT is such a different experience than Breath of the Wild; it has more set goals and few (or just one!) solutions to a puzzle, or a dungeon, or a boss; in comparison to BotW, which was set on "yo, go do what you want and explore"; which was the original intention of the first Zelda game. If it helps for any future Zelda experience: most bosses give clues. For example, Bongo-Bongo is always trying to be in the opposite side of the ring to you; and when you attack its hands, arrows drop. It was hinting "oh, it might be easier if I am away from it, and fire some arrows! Hey, what if I use the Hookshot instead?", the same happens with items: find something you don't know how to pass/unlock? Maybe a previous item might help, or one that you haven't got yet! Note: there're always exception to these, the rules aren't set in stone. Either way, older titles sometimes do show their age; in both explaining too much and not enough. But, I'm glad you still find the good moments in between the bad ones. Sorry for the long read, but hey, hope you have fun with whatever you do in the future! Edit: also yes, technical difficulties are some BULLLLLL, never fun.

So basically, the biggoron sword is way to slow to deal with bongo bongo you would of been way better off with the master sword. But the best strategy is to use ice arrows(if yo had them) to freeze his hands. He would of been way less irritating to fight if you did either of those

if it helps, often the items dropped during the boss fight or in a room is a hint as to what you need. For example, Bongo's hand would drop arrows. Most Zelda games are like this. Anyway, you figured it out your own way and that makes it better. Someone told me how to defeat Gannondorf in OOT and to this day I wish they hadn't, because it wasn't rewarding and replaying the fight isn't satisfying. This affected how I played botw for the first time; i watched zero gameplay online until after I beat it. Also, I would leave the room when my wife or kids were playing in an area I hadn't been to yet

Just finished your great Majora's Mask stream.^_^ Loved it. Though I'll keep it vague, here's some advice for ya: You can purchase the bomb bag now if you get enough rupees, but a better one becomes available if you do something at the right time in Northern Clock Town. Getting the Bomb Bag unlocks two more mini-games in town. For most(not all) of the mini-games in town, you only get the true rewards if you beat the different variants of the mini-games all in a single cycle of days. That deku shrub mini-game being one example, with the game changing on each day. With your normal form, you can now exit town. Before you do though, there are TWO masks you can find in town without gaining additional tools from elsewhere. The chests in town that contain Rupees reset with every time you go back in town, which can help a lot for both affording the mini-game costs and for getting the rewards for storing enough Rupees in the bank, of which there's multiple tiers of rewards. There are also two easy to get rupee chests in East Clock Town, though one requires you to do something early on in the inn on the first day. Good luck figuring out what though, since it's easy to miss. Requires specific timing. With bombs, you can also as you noticed break that wall in the path to the astronomer, which is another easy bit of Rupees for funds that resets each time you go back in time. That's all the advice I have for what you've uncovered so far.
