Oooh! It's not often a small-timer like this makes such good videos. Keep up the good work.

I think Pirate's curse is number 1, but oddly my 2nd favorite game is the og Shantae game. Follow by Seven Sirens, HGH and RR at last place.

RR is the only one I've played and I love it. I've been thinking of trying the rest of them; it's good to know that they only get better lol

@@saikimayu Non of em are bad games, I would put all of em B or higher. Shantae 1 I give a lot of slack for because it is a Gameboy title, but at the end of the day it is one of the best games on the system. It really push the Gameboy to it's limit. I did do a playthrough of all 5 Shantae games on my channel. And when this new one hits the Switch I am going to do a playthrough on it.

Question of the video: What's your favorite game in the Shantae series?
@ZeldaAran52 Жыл бұрын
I loved your video! The Shantae series is quite a fun one, although it's difficult to answer that question since each game brings something unique to the table. Shantae 1, if anything, is hella ambitious for the GBC. The dances kinda make me think of something akin to LoZ OoT where you'd play songs to warp to places. The towns are structured in a neat way and Jake Kaufmann really pushed the GBC soundchip to its limits in ways not seen in other titles. All of your critiques are valid, though; the game is punishing early on, but gets noticeably easier once you get more upgrades (not unlike some LoZ titles). It's a tough one to recommend as a 1st entry, BUT it's a tough one to go back to after having played later titles, so it's one i'd recommend as a starting point only to specific individuals. Risky's Revenge is one i loved! It'd be my favorite, but it's just so dang short. Pirate's Curse is excellent. Probably the one i had the most fun with. Since Risky's Revenge is so short, i think i'd recommend it first as a sort of "warmup" before jumping into Pirate's Curse. Fanservice does get quite silly in Pirate's Curse, but that's just kinda WayForward's brand. One chapter might be an absurd homage to the Star Wars RotJ bikini, but then the following chapter will balance that out and take a much more serious turn as you start uncovering Rottytop's past. 1/2 Genie was definitely a departure, levels kinda felt like Megaman X in that you'd beat one linear level with a boss at the end, but then revisit it later to collect upgrades. The desert level had some of my favorite Jake Kaufmann songs to date, as well as an interesting boss that was some kind of cool 2.5D section atop the turret of a tower. I did not know there was a 5th game out! Probably the main reason why i am hesitant to pick a fave until i've tried it out!

As in a weirdly good small franchise!

I recently finished all the Shantae games myself, and the only thing here I really disagree with is Pirate's Curse being the best one to start with. The problem is that Risky's Revenge and Pirate's Curse have an interconnected story, so it seems wrong to me to start with the later of the two.
@Berdomlikesgames9 ай бұрын
That's a pretty fair argument.

The first game actually sits in the middle for me. I think Risky's Revenge is my least favourite, by virtue of it starting off well, but simply ending up being disappointing. It's an unfinished game, and to me it shows, so I'm super glad we're finally getting the game it was trying to be. Half Genie Hero is my fourth, by virtue of how patchwork the experience is. I go back and forth between The Pirate's Curse, and Seven Sirens as my favourite, though I think Pirate's Curse might still hold that title for me.

I don't know if I'd agree that Risky's Revenge feels unfinished to me, but I get where you're coming from, the game IS oddly short.
