@@ruly8153 Guillermo and Greta have kind similar sensibilities and personalities, I remember a roundtable with both of them and it was obvious that they clicked. Greta seems to be very affectionate and sensitive, she adores Guillermo's craft, she was just expressing her love and admiratoon for him. Plus, she didn't say "thank you", she said "I love him", you can clearly see her mouthing three words.

Nadie se esta colgando del premio, Guillermo se lleva el oscar, nadie mas, es su trabajo pero cuando un premio se relaciona con MX y este a su vez se relaciona con darle presitigio a este pais y dado a que todos contribuimos a hacerlo mejor (peor en alguno casos) es totalmente aceptable sentirte parte de ese reconocimiento no tanto el de Guillermo del Toro si no el que se le da al pais, después de todo México nos formo a su medida, con las mismas tradiciones, gustos similares, educación y formas de pensar. Es básicamente la lectura que cuando los habitantes de un pais se sienten como si fueran a ganar un mundial siendo que solo juegan 11 jugardores, no hay nada de malo sentirse parte de un reconocimiento ya que este inspira a mucha gente a hacer cosas grande por el lugar de donde viene, puede que aqui no se le abrieron al 100% las puertas a guillermo pero NUNCA lo he visto renegar o echar en cara que no se le apoyó ( aunque estoy de acuerdo que MX debe mejorar en sus recursos en cultura) . Yo creo que no hay nada malo en el comentario del compañero, al contrario, es bueno ver los logros colectivos ya que como dije, esto puede hacer que mas mexicanos alcancen sus metas.

This marks only the 2nd time ever that a fantasy film won this category, as well as only the 2nd time since 1943 that the Best Picture winner had a credited female screenwriter (both after LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING). The Shape of Water is a classic movie, the story, acting, music, visuals, cinematography all were top notch. Such a fresh and enchanting movie, truly creative. Guillermo Del Toro created a stunning movie. One of my all time favorites. So happy it won 4 Oscars including the Oscar for Best Picture in 2018. 👏👏👏

Tbf I would have been absolutely fine if most of the nominees had won. I loved Dunkirk, Get Out, Phantom Thread, Three Billboards and Shape of Water all for different reasons, and each one had more than enough to justify BP. SoW was a masterpiece, and deserves so much love.

The Shape of Water was the second fantasy film who won as Best Picture. Previously, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King on 2004. That film was winning 4 awards from 13 nominations, tying the records for Birdman (Or the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), The King's Speech, No Country for Old Men, A Beautiful Mind, and Unforgiven.

Same thought here. Blade Runner 2049 was the movie of the year for me, such a shame it didn't get nominated or at the very least got back the budget it cost for. But at least it got a lot of praise after all that. Del Toro deserved this for me, since the movie was simple concept turned into an artistic revelation; never seen something this artistic win since Birdman.

I loved all of these movies, I also really liked Call me by your name But in my opinion for me (personally) Shape of Water is the best, because it left a huge and the strongest impact of me. I am a big fan of fantasy and other genres too, but this particular film is special because of how every element in the film blemds with each other, and sets up a very powerful and beautiful scene (accompanies with one of the best soundtrack ever). Its kinda like Amadeus in some way, magical. I still agree that Call me by your name, three billboards, blade runner and PT were amazing. But for me personally SoW made the biggest impact

Really glad the Oscars gave Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty a second chance to announce Best Picture, allowing them to redeem themselves, rather than fire them and never allow them back to the Oscars.

Mexico has had a very long long history of filmmaking and so the legacy that Mr. Spielberg mentioned, has been established a long time ago in Mexican cinema. I am Colombian and all my family both from my mother and my father have their memories in hundreds of Mexican dramas, comedies, action, western, and novellas since they were kids. Thank you Mr. Spielberg for your invite, Mexico extends the same to you.
