Kevin I purchased the Honor V10 6gb ram x 128gb Rom with further SD extension up to 256gb ... I’m astonished by the battery optimisation.. I’ve been using it medium to heavy use and I’m getting almost 2 days .... it has supercharge which charges it to 50% capacity in only 20 mins!

Mine was killed by the update to Android 8.0. It's never been the same since. It's a nightmare.

Either your battery is completely shot or that the oreo update is not deep sleeping at all, ever. I do agree with the non replaceable batteries, its totally planned obsolescence. Sometimes it pays to know a bit of knowledge about opening phones etc. Personally I would open it up and replace it. Only problem is waterproof phones are sealed with adhesive but that's a different story...

I'm not too bothered about the waterproofing. I just want battery life to be good. It could just be a software issue. Perhaps I need to explore rooting it or using a different OS or something. I know this is a problem others have so there may be a solution out there.

That’s why I’m going to get a new battery for my iPhone 8 Plus’ for £29 before the end of the year. 100% battery again - happy days 🙂

Yeah I'd take advantage of that. The reward for Apple getting caught rolling customer off. I wish more companies would get caught red handed.

Even my recent purchase, a near three year old Nexus 6p has better standby battery life that that, and it's running Oreo 8.1. The 6p has dodgy battery life anyway! Using the phone is another matter, with the battery draining like there's no tomorrow. But the battery performance is simply not good enough on a 13 month old phone, especially a phone of the u11's standard.

When I contacted HTC they told me to go to carphonewarehouse. They then said a return would take a month. It's appalling support from a big company. I'm tempted to root the phone and install non HTC firmware.

Kevin Muldoon It's says a lot about htc that you'd prefer to void your warranty a year early, rather than activate it. It pains me to say this, but it's no wonder htc is on it's knees. You'd think they'd really take customer service so seriously, in order ro rebuild their reputation. These customer service complaints are nothing new. Even in the height of their success, customer complaints were common.

I have a Palm Treo smart phone from 2005 and the battery still lasts for about one month - mind you I just use it as an alarm clock

Haha that's awesome. I'm still amazed by how well Gameboy batteries hold up over time.

Battery life is the one thing that still sucks with phones...an extra mm of thickness and a bigger battery is that really so bad? LG V20 was the last decent phone with removable battery...I have one but fell in the canal last year and it got water damage.. though about getting another but kind of dismissed it now.. As I've mentioned before, if I want stellar battery I use either my Xiaomi Mi Max 2 or Lenovo P2.. never kill them in a day...

There's a used one selling at £190 on Amazon UK. If you replaced the battery the phone would be brand new. Could be a great second phone or backup phone.

Sounds like the battery has gone or the optimisation is really poor.. My Huawei P20 Pro has got a 4000mah and still isn't the best battery life..

I have a HTC 10 .. Didn't dare switch to Oreo I've kept it on nougat and my battery is still good

Kevin Muldoon like you said the new updates should actually improve the device ... But I was always sceptical on things like that because it's all to force you in to buying the newest phone every year... It's a joke how they can get away with that and I heard enough about Oreo to know to stay away it's obvious a ploy to ruin likes of your phone that's only a year old

The difference was ridiculous. It literally went from good battery life to terrible over night.
