I tried to farm when I retired form the military, i tried to sign up for some beginner programs and I felt like they were just trying to get me to sign up for grants and loans m. After 1 year, I realized how expensive it is to try and farm to sell. Seemed slimy to me so I shut it down.

My father said it differently. He said land poor. The 25-30 cow ranches are vanishing to. The good. I remember Sunday dinners and making homemade ice cream on the porch. Boiling a pig & the whole family coming out & BBQ after. The bad. I never saw my father. He was in the fields before I ate breakfast & still there when I went to bed. Being so poor that my mother would send me at 5 to get groceries in my wagon because we couldn't pay & she was embarrassed. Eating corn meal mush for a week straight. Getting a sock puppet for Christmas & my mother crying because that was all there was. Im successfully retired now & I don't miss those days at all. Good riddance. I forgot to add.. the disgusting outhouses & chamber pots. Yuck! There is nothing to romanticize about, here.

I appreciate the life farmers lead, but I’m not concerned with losing farms and farmers. Corporate farming will increase quality, quantity, and lower prices. Farmers are too expensive for the common american to keep providing their lifestyles. The communist policies farmers embrace to guarentee their income hurt the economy more than they help. I don’t want to pay for fuel that has ethanol in it, but the communist policy farmers used their political influence to create force me to against my will. A farmer will take the money though. Money to not grow on land, environmental subsidies, program handouts, government insurance, etc. A farmer needs to pay his property tax like everyone else. How is that unamerican, but farmers and government colluding to steal my money isn’t?
