The only call back to the original was the "wandering eye". Remember in the original those eye's shot beams or lasers or something. I think in the original it was something like the common cold that killed them. There were some great Sci-Fi films in the 40's and 50's. My favorite was "Them" from 1948, about the giant ant's. If I remember right, wasn't Steve McQueen in the first "The Blob" movie? I still watch the old "Wanted: Dead or Alive" TV show in the early 60's starring McQueen! This film, my wife likes. But she don't know shit, so!!??! Great one Pop!

I thought this movie was great! One of my favorite Cruise movies, he did good playing the awkward dad trying to protect his family and some of those tripod scenes are awesome! Like when they first Com E to the surface that startup was like a F35 cranking up, really exciting, thanks Showdown!

If u get a chance “Host” the found footage paranormal horror that won a bunch of awards is awesome. As a film maker yourself you’d appreciate that the youtuber that made it with his friends and is now on to collaborating in big time Hollywood since ! They all filmed each part in their own homes with iPhones becasue it was lockdown, did their own makeup and a stunt coordinator helped via Zoom. They made it with like $15,000 and it made millions . Rob savage is now directing the new Stephen king “Boogeyman”. Form youtuber to directing Stephen king movie in 18 months! Inspiring!

Loved this movie as a kid, still do. But watching it as an adult makes me not want kids lmao. Those kids were a handful and more. As a kid I paid no attention to how stupid Robbie was acting ( mostly because I had a crush on the actor) but he was dumb asf, why would he run to the distruction without any type of weapon and he somehow survives 🤦🏾‍♀️

This is the first major motion picture to use real M1 Abrams tanks instead of other tanks dressed up to resemble them.
