Can u use the A major pentatonic as an option with the A minor pentatonic?

If you're playing over a traditional Am track, you can use the C Major pentatonic as it would be the relative major pentatonic. If you're playing over an A Major track, then an A Major pentatonic would work as well as a F#m pentatonic, as it would be the relative minor pentatonic. Does that help?
