This is why I like Simpson and Partners - they are constantly improving and evaluating the product. no resting on past successes. British design and engineering at its very best. They are led by a great duo in Dave and Mandy - Gavin @ Sulis Electrical

I hope you don’t mind me asking a question here, but it seems like you are the best person to ask! I’ve got a Podpoint Solo 3, included in the purchase of my ev in 2022. I have to give the installer some real credit, he didn’t take shortcuts and did a great job……the issue is the charger itself. It keeps having reoccurring faults such as the locking mechanism failing and leaving my cable trapped, overheating on warm days, and I’m currently facing down another wait for an engineer to come and sort it out yet again. I’ve had it checked by a trusted independent spark and he says the install wasn’t the problem, a crap charger is. So I’m currently eyeing up a replacement of either a Hyperbolt Home 3 Pro or a Simpson and Partners Home Plus, but I’m torn. What’s your view if you don’t mind me asking?
@sotaelectrical8 ай бұрын
Hi, Thanks for messaging, yeah I won’t install podpoint personally, regarding the Hypervolt and Simpson & partners… both good chargers but the S&P wins it on looks for me

Is it necessary to have another consumer unit when installing ev charger? Or you could connect to consumer unit which is already in the property…?
@sotaelectrical6 ай бұрын
Normally the existing consumer unit is not suitable

Real shame you don't Install in Scotland. What a nightmare to get my Simpson charger installed... I finally got a big EV install firm to do mine. They didn't know what a Simpson was. They didn't bother to put the IP washers or the wireless CT Puck. So I have a puck I can't use. I had to tell them as the customer after learning from your vids. Huge thanks. 👍

Hi Adam how do you get around if the charger needs connected to WiFi and the signal isn’t strong enough.

Thanks mate, I’m looking into it, I’m not sure how it really applies unless your doing vehicle to grid charging which isn’t really a thing yet, what are your thoughts?

Are you worried about the rapid decline in ev sales and manufactures dropping ev models abd switching back to petrol and diesel engines?
@HahaSully8 ай бұрын
EVs are booming in the company car/ leasing schemes. It's actually beneficial to have an EV over any other car id you're company offer it. Save £££££ having one.

@HahaSully no their not! Ford, MB and BMW have all cancelled new ev products. Ford have cancelled construction of a dedicated new ev factory. Used ev's are utterly worthless! 😂
