This was the magic of The Simpsons back in the day. The small moments like this or "Lisa, It's Your Birthday", just melted your heart. The way Yeardley sings Jazzman with Lisa's innocence, conviction & given the episode's topic was all so endearing.

This is a scene you appreciate more as you get older. We've all lost someone important in our lives, and we all just wish we could have one more moment with them. To tell them how we feel, how much we miss them, or just to hang out and do whatever it was we did together, one last time. Lisa had that moment here. Such a beautiful scene.
@Paraprax4 жыл бұрын
Yeah. One of the best things about having grown up with classic Simpsons is stuff like this. As a kid this is a funny scene where Bleeding Gums' ghost comes back Mufasa-style to play some more upbeat music. As an adult it's a tear-wringing beauty about a kid (possibly) imagining her hero coming back to share one last perfect moment of jazz. Tons of Simpsons moments are like that now - frivolous laughs or almost boring talking scenes back then, deeply emotional and profound now. It's beginning to feel like one of the best, most accurate records of being a child in the 90s at all.
@vinesauceobscurities3 жыл бұрын

Last year I lost one of my best friends. The last time I saw him didn't really end on friendly terms, we never spoke to each other after a big fight. I added him to facebook close to 10 years later yet I never messaged him. I always hoped one day one of us could break the ice after so many years. I wish I was a better friend, I wish things could have been different. Never let dumb shit in the past get in the way of a friendship. it can vanish all in a heartbeat.

The Simpsons died in 2000 and anything past season 11 with Behind the Laughter as the final worthy epsiode is NOT The Simpsons but an entirely completely different show void of intelligence, excellent writing, soul, heart and anti-authority/anti-hollywood satire! it's Zombie Simpsons. I'm 36 years old and been a fan of The Simpsons since i was 5 when they debuted on Tracy Ullman and was 7 when the pilot first aired on TV and taped every episode from 1989 to 2000 then i stopped watching in 2003 as the show was getting stale and moved on to other adult animation. It's just not relevant anymore nowadays! we have Bojack Horseman, Bob's Burgers etc. that have the same soul/heart/intelligence/satire of the real The Simpsons and have things in common with The Simpsons and not Zombie Simpsons. I tried to watch a couple of episodes of Zombie Simpsons and it was so bad i wanted to punch the tv and i turned it off. The show since 2001 is like a terminal cancer patient who is dying and it's better to pull the plug so it won't suffer anymore.

This episode always makes me say "sorry, there's something in my eye". Back when The Simpsons could make you belly laugh and cry all within one episode.

Here after the passing of James Earl Jones. I’ll always remember this moment where his 3 personas appeared alongside Bleeding Gums. 😭😭😭 R.I.P James Earl Jones, he truly is looking down on us now 😢

Jazz sounds both incredibly soothing and later, exhilarating. I question anyone who dislikes or hates the genre.

There's some grace and pureness in this episode, the scenes between these two characters are heartbreaking. By the way, I have to confess I prefer Yeardly Smith's voice rather than Carole King's

That Billie Holiday line really got me. My great-grandfather was good friends with her,and when she would perform in clubs, he would hide in a broom closet and watch her perform.
