Some cultural notes from the time ...During this time I remember "shock humor" was the big form of comedy. The laughs came from the wtf reaction (and thought of the possible wtf reactions) this is when "dead baby jokes" really popped off lol Also the dancing baby was still a well-known meme from what I remember.

I remember in the Sims 2 my baby never grew into toddler and he was a baby his whole life until he was in his mid adult life, he even went to college as a huge baby, it was devastating but at the time, there was no cheats or mods at all, it was just a glitch, we're talking 2007, I was so used to it that it took as a surprise when suddenly he became a normal adult once he was married and had kids and all, just a little surprised and ofc happy, but I was still shocked

I had a friend years ago with a pirated version of Sims 4 and when the pixels first show up in pirated versions, it would keep growing and growing until it covered the whole screen. So the nomosaic mod was used by anyone with a pirated version. (obviously still also by people who just wanted to see sims in the shower but also by people who didnt want to pay for the official version)

I remember getting a smoking mod for Sims 1 as a child/pre-teen and also downloading some CC anime skins... so at one point I just had these random characters living in a house and chain smoking because it filled up a bunch of needs like sleep and hunger, I was always skillin', but then it got boring lol. The insane capitalist struggle was what made Sims 1 remotely good. I did have a cute Cardcaptor Sakura skin and it made me realize just how little the poor kids could do in Sims 1... although they did have their own easy-bake oven and could bake cute cupcakes so there's that. OH and I had some animal mods like a llama and chickens that could roam around but because it was based on the in-game hamster, their bites could be deadly. Ahhh... now I feel an urge to play Cottage Living with some random anime kid character and see what they grow up looking like!

I think it'd be really cool if you could do a video highlighting the current Sims 2 (& Sims 3) CC/mod community! There is still so much CC being made these days by some amazing creators both old and new. A lot of it is on Tumblr but ModTheSims is still used a lot by some Sims 2 CC creators. You could also do more videos highlighting some iconic old CC/mods like this if you like, but I think it'd be nice for people to know that the CC community is still alive and thriving even as we approach The Sims 5. :)

Mode the Sims still exists but it's true people don't update there as often, at least for Sims 4 (Sims 2 and Sims 3 could be more active there lol I don't really know.) In general we're seeing a lot of Sims CC creators tire out or just fall along the wayside eventually (since ya know it's a hobby like anything else) because the Sims 4 has been out forever and it keeps updating stuff, breaking other things sometimes. RIP most of my CC skin tones especially Bare by Lamatisse. Some people updated theirs but a lot of the older awesome tones were from people who had already dropped off (and I found an update via Mod the Sims or else Sims 4 Studio back around the time of the tanning update and a few occult releases) or they vanished shortly before the infant update or right after. Same problem with a lot of hairs after the hair update although people could more easily figure out how to do it so the big names stuck around, it was just extremely time-consuming for anyone with a big backlog of CC hair and some of the oldest stuff became unsupported, at least as far as genetics went. Skin tones (not skin details but tones) were already pretty limited in availability and I don't think there's a big easy workaround yet alas.

I feel like this is one of the main reasons the Sims 4 flops, it's not wacky enough. Like, I know there are a ton of creative and unique mods but this is just built different and it feels like a product of it's time. I think about the spin off games like Urbz, Bustin out, etc that I used to love playing and they were wacky and chaotic too.
