The thing that is getting to me the most is how some people are feeling more sorry for the male idols than the girls they SA'd and even excusing actions. 1. Testimonies were that the male employees were instructed to carryout these actions, not forced. We have no evidence as to whether they were displeased with doing what they did, only that they were told to. And 2. There is a moral bottom line. Even if they were coerced to do what they did, they still chose SA over losing their reputation and careers. Even in the case they were victims of manipulation, that does not excuse or trump the wrought actions carried out on those girls. Some of you need to reevaluate your moral standing.

@@gabdongipark exactly. R is one of the worst things you can do to another human. R culture is prominent in korea so im sure the employees were not all forced to do what they did either.

The Boss was one of my favorite groups and is what got me into K-POP and J-POP, it’s a shame I never hear anybody talking about them or even know who they are. The whole situation is just devastating and I hope all the victims in this tragedy are able to heal from these events.

I only knew one song by them, "Rilla Go," and I LOVED it so much, it was one of the first I was introduced to when I got back into kpop. Unfortunately, it's so hard to find their music these days, and they didn't have another release after that.

It is literally TERRIFYING that this is probably happening in several companies right now and we will likely never know about it. It could be happening to your favorite boy group or girl group. It could be happening to trainees that will debut in your future favorite group. It's so scary.

At the time, I was a very big fan of both open world groups, it was such a massive blow to all of them and their fans. We relied on very vague cyworld updates from the members. The male singer in his 30s seemed to be a singer I found on the day of the news coming out I watched him clear out his cyworld in live time and he was being highly searched on Korean portals too. A lot of international kpop news outlets were purposely putting false information out to get more clicks, so it was hard to find correct information. To add to the final part, unfortunately Jang Seokwoo is out of jail now and runs a company called Jun Media, which is Open World Entertainment renamed. He/the company still owned the rights to the name Shinhwa up until not too long ago. However, as far as I'm aware Jun Media works as a company that provides services to entertainment companies rather than working as an entertainment company in itself.

I remember, After School were the ones who made me interested in k-pop back then, with that catchy song where they wore those marching band costumes and played drums. I have watched a good amount of your videos, and I think it is a shame how badly Idols are being treated by their companies.

I assume that the two idols that were arrested were okay with doing what they did and weren't victims themselves? That'd really be messed up on the police's side otherwise. I wish the police would come out with the perps' names. It's crazy that they get anonymity. Edit: that law that got him off from being charged with forcing the male idols.... semantics. That is so gross and I bet it's used more often than it should to be skirt the line of SA and the abuse of power... disgusting. These crimes 100% happen more often than we know about. South Korea and Japan both have a huge issue with SA and harassment. Even in the western entertainment industry, it happens. Kesha is a (sadly) great example of that. Powerful people love to abuse their power over others. You're a fool if you think otherwise. I just hope the laws in SK get stricter for the entertainment industry so this and other issues (like over working, not enough pay, etc) happen less.

It is simply heartbreaking to see so many young trainees and idols trying to make a name for themselves and their groups only to be objectified and treated as toys to satisfied the rich and powerful of the entretaiment industry and society in general I just can't stop thinking of how many people have been intimidaded or bribed into silenced, fearing of losing their careers or their lives even, if they ever spoke about the disgusting things people like this CEO have done and said to them I hope Korea and the rest of the world do a better job protecting the people working in this industry

On the one hand, I respect the male idols having been arrested, it isn't necessarily the wrong thing to have done. On the other hand, if they had been forced to participate in assaulting or raping those other trainees for fear of their careers or personal lives being messed with, the men were also essentially raped/assaulted. The CEO should have been charged for each of the women and men he ruined for his own pleasure.
