Speaking of Malgus' attack on the Jedi Temple, imagine that the Jedi had previously discovered the intentions of their enemies and thus decided to employ the "Russian tactic", evacuating the entire temple and taking any valuables with them. The face that Malgus and the Sith would make when epically breaking into the completely empty temple with their ships and suddenly realizing that there is no one there to fight against would be worth seeing 🤣🤣🤣

Curiously, Darth Malgus' journal was later found by Darth Bane, who included it in his "Book of Sith." Centuries later, Palpatine and Vader would read the diary, with the Emperor admiring Malgus's military skills and Vader admitting that the Sith Lord's life reminds him of his own.

Something to mention that was important was how Malgus realised what was holding him back was the love of his wife, and that he realised it conflicted with the dark aide and his love for the empire was stronger than the love for her, so he killed her on Coruscant after the Apprentice of Master Zallow spared her life.

Darth Malgus was a visionary. I don’t really see him as someone who wanted to destroy the Sith tradition, however (since humanocentrism isn’t intrinsic to the Sith order since early Sith like XoXaan were nonhuman and since Sith like Tulak Hord and Naga Sadow didn’t subscribe to it). Rather, he wanted to return the Sith to the core of what there philosophy truly was and called for: devotion entirely to the dark side itself and absolute victory at all costs, as the treaty of coruscant broke the first line of Sorzus Syn’s Sith code (“peace is a lie”). He wanted to remove all the things debilitating the Sith at the time (petty squabbles, decadence, hunanocentrism, etc) and return them to the core of who they were meant to and should be.

Malgus is definitely an interesting Sith character. I do wish that, for a Sith Empire playthrough, you could have joined Malgus, though I understand why that wasn't the case. As for what I think would have happened had his coup succeeded, it's hard to say. One thing I do know, however, is that, in essence, his coup did lead to some changes to the Sith Empire, even if they were just superficial.

He was still definitely evil though. He just wasn’t the *same* evil as the empire. Empire didn’t want another rival, and republic doesn’t want *even more* evil. So it makes sense neither wanted him around. Being less racist doesn’t mean much if you’re still a genocidal maniac.
@MADTHEJUDOKA
@MADTHEJUDOKA 4 ай бұрын
@@firstnamelastname9237 I mean for example, Malgus was more open minded to having a sith empire that welcomed diversity. Malgus wanted sith from all walks of life. And I never said Malgus was a “good guy”. Not ever lol Malgus was not interested in singling it to only peer blooded sith species and humans like the sith empire was. Malgus also wanted to unite the sith, and prevent the constant in fighting that led to their own downfall time and time again. The Jedi were just as flawed but in different ways. They took infant new borns against their will from the hands of their parents. They didn’t allow attachments. They in return, turned those same children into child warriors. Not to mention the Jedi growing to involved in politics as well as forgetting there place as people who aid the innocent and stay out of intergalactic affairs. Instead they became apart of the intergalactic mess, and picked up the war for themselves for their own political gain. My point is, Malgus and the sith empire. As well as the Jedi all had their issues. Neither side were perfect. Obviously the sith as well as malgus did commit more atrocities than the Jedi. But I was just pointing out what made Malgus different. That’s all.
@firstnamelastname9237
@firstnamelastname9237 4 ай бұрын
@@MADTHEJUDOKA The jedi were not even close ro as flawed. Also, child warriors, most were not. And even the ones that were were usually only due to extreme necessity. Either be a child warrior or be dead is an easy choice to make. And taking children (mind you they were pretty universally *given* they weren’t kidnapped, isn’t a big deal given the sith wwre the probable alternative and life as a jedi is usually really good. The not attachments thing also doesn’t mean no love or no liking, that’s more of a fan assumption and is not consistent with the films or most jedi at large. So no, the jedi were not just as flawed. In fact the jedi are consistently better at preventing corruption in their own ranks than basically every other system or organization of even remotely comparable size. An especially insane claim given they’re all superhumans who individually can singlehandedly wipe out strike teams if they choose. The amount of dark jedi that occur who were previously on good terms with the jedi without being forced by sith or another outside source is so phenomenally low the jedi should get a commendation for it. The jedi almost never gain much politically in wars. That point is kind of moot, the ones that do usually do because they are specifically not working with the council (like revan). Malgus did basically one morally better thing than the sith. And it was one of the least better and was really just done for practical reasons. I’d say even the eternal empire was far better in both moral and practical standards than malgus’s empire would have been. The unity thing is neutral but again due to practicality. He’s not genuinely much more open minded he just realized the sith weren’t operating at max capacity. Darth Jadus did the same thing. Heck even Vitiate did the same thing the difference is he recognized Zakuul as a better option than trying to redo the sith. Valkorion and his eternal empire is a better version than Malgus and his sith both morally and effectively.
@MADTHEJUDOKA

@@firstnamelastname9237 every one of my examples used were valid. Those have all been prominent issues since the old republic and and later during the skywalker saga. It’s not an interpretation, but a fact. They’re many sources that point this out in detail as well. But if you don’t see any of the example I used as “wrong” or a big deal, that’s your opinion. But an opinion can most certainly be wrong. As far as the old republic? The Jedi were most certainly not all that “good” during the old republic. The Jedi had a lot of flaws that lead them to do some pretty heinous shit. Not Giving most force sensitive children they took a choice whether or not to join a religious faction is wrong. Not allowing those same children to ever have contact with their parents again IS wrong. Turning children into child soldiers against their will IS wrong. Most Jedi in the old republic era grew up with war. So by default, most padawans were raised to participate in the wars. These wars lasted hundreds and thousands of years. The Jedi were always involved in some war. Whether with the sith, or the mandalorians. you must not be verse on the Jedi of old during the old republic. They were brutal. They were far from perfect. I mean, not even one hundred years before Malgus. Revan used a giant weapon to end the Jedi, mando wars on malachor v to defeat the mandalorians. (Revan was still a jedi at the time)The weapon didn’t only kill mando’s, but it also killed tons of Jedi. That’s how nihlius became so physically scarred to the point he had to feed on other force sensitives, later feeding off of worlds to heal himself. Because of revans shadow weapon. So the Jedi, including revan were somewhat responsible for nihilus. But In other words, The Jedi were not above slaying or physically crippling their own if it meant winning a war or coming out on top. That’s not very moral. In The old republic comics, you’re introduced to a jedi cult within the Jedi ranks that operates in secret, that is in charge of erasing anything to do with the sith. They’re in charge of stopping the sith from ever reoccurring again. This Jedi cult LITERALLY kills all of their padawans over a vision about one of the padawans turning to the dark side. Then end up framing the only living padawan, zayne carrick as the one responsible when that wasn’t true. Neither side were above committing atrocities. The sith were just more likely to commit atrocities on a Dailey basis, and for selfish reasons. The jedi would usually do something atrocious as a means to an end. But still atrocious none the less. But like I said, my OG comment wasn’t made to argue Malgus as a “good” guy. I only made the comment to explain why I thought Malgus was cool. You randomly argued that Malgus was indeed a bad guy when that was never an argument made to begin with. Specially since I would agree with you on that sentiment and did in my first reply to you. I only brought up the jedi and their flaws as a way to show you that not everything was so black and white. There were problems on both sides and that is just a fact. I think we all know the side who is inherently more evil is the sith. But the jedi have done some pretty sketchy shit too. But at the end of the day, I think we agree that Malgus is evil. So you don’t necessarily need to convince me.

I have a bit of a personal grudge against Malgus due to a GM's use of him as an NPC in an evil Star Wars TTRPG campaign. After reviving him from suspended animation post-Battle of Endor, he really helped our party go on a galactic-sized rampage which brought both the Imperial Remnant and the New Republic to their knees. Even the sociopathic Mandalorian mercenary I was playing shied away from the atrocities he was willing to commit and although we 'won' I did not feel happy about installing a new tyrannical overlord.

Some of the things we did could have probably impressed Palpatine since we ended up burning the entire moon of Endor down to the ground in session zero (almost causing the Ewok species to go extinct in the process) and it only escalated from there.

Imagine plotting for the over-the-top but epic capture of Coruscant, as well as the destruction the Jedi Temple, only to find out it would all be tossed back into Republic and Jedi hands. He basically went for a Domination-Victory, but his peers decided to go for a Diplomatic one last minute, without properly talking/debating about this beforehand. Ya know, I like Malgus. Sure, he's still a sith, which mean he's a disease on the force and corrupts it with his abuse of it... BUT, he was a cool dude on a more personal level. Kind of, as far as sith go at least.

I think Bane would have respected Malgus, but also think he was foolish. Malgus, despite being insanely bloodthirsty, did have a bizarre code of honor to him. After he sacked the Jedi temple, he collapsed the roof of the temple to give the Jedi an honorable burial for defending their home with such tenacity. Malgus also hated playing politics. One of the main reasons he left the empire was because he was sick of the bureaucracy and dishonorable treachery that was employed by his peers. So Malgus struck out to make an empire for warriors who would earn their positions through merit in battle. Bane on the other hand was the complete opposite. Bane stated multiple times that he thought honor was for idiots and spent most of his life scheming and playing the same kind of politics that Malgus detested. Still though, Bane would have known and respected Malgus’ power and Bane, ever the pragmatist, would absorb what he felt useful from Malgus and his teachings about the nature of the force and Sith philosophy. But he would discard the parts about honor. Case in point; both were sith that chose to strike out on their own after seeing the folly of the order of their times only Malgus did it as a Sith warrior and Bane did so as a Sith Inquisitor. But that’s just my guess.

a number of dark jedi have come around and turned away from the dark side. but in terms of sith, actual true sith, there are none. not one person trained in the dark side from the start ever found their way to the light and became a jedi. now taking a looser definition of sith, there are technically 2, but vader spent about 30 years as a respected jedi and only converted to save his family, which is the exact same reason he fell in the first place. the other to turn back to the light, revan, involved a memory wipe and actual brainwashing. basically the corrupting power of the darkside is too strong, without having felt the light strongly at some point prior its basically impossible to swap dark to light, and dramatically easier to swap light to dark. Luke during both the Dark Nest trilogy and the Legacy of the force book series really goes in depth about the topic. in the dark nest series Luke makes himself grand master of the jedi (a title he didnt want to use because he had wanted his order to be a band of equals) because at that point jason had brought back a sort of grey philosophy about the ends justifying the means for the greater good ect. meaning for example its okay to torcher someone with force lightning if it means getting info that could save millions or something. and that philosophy had spread throughout the order at the time and the "jedi" were more chaotic neutral opposed to lawful good. so basically luke had to step up become grand master and order them all to stop, because bascially "using force lightning is just gonna turn you all into sith you idiots" and and by the time legacy of the force series came around, jason had set himself up as a new sith emperor and luke knew, that while he may be more powerful and able to beat jason, because he had dabbled in dark side stuff for like a month 25 years ago, the act of slaying his own nephew even in order to save the galaxy, would almost certainly tip him over the edge and mean sith lord luke would be the new boss monster the galaxy would have to deal with and just make everything worse. and also, make no mistake, malgus was sith to the core. dude killed his wife in cold blood because his love for her was a distraction. not a nice thing to do. he was just more practical than power hungry. also also, ventress, never a sith, she was always just an assassin and the moment she was actually powerful enough to be a sith is when palpatine ordered dooku to kill her.

Human Supremacy is the weakest part of Star Wars lore. Not every bad guy needs to be space hitler and it makes no sense for the Sith to supremacists when 1) many sith aren't human and 2) the original sith, including the emperor, aren't human. Better to leave human supremacy as a feature that Palpatine brought as his own brand.

I was actually really disappointed in game that there was no option to join Malgus rather then fight him, I share his disdain for the corrupt morons in power lol.

Generally i don't like Siths because for me they are assholes; beings always in the pursuitr of power and capable to do the most horrifing acts to gain it. But Malgus and Marr are way more different. They shought to become powerfull yes, but to use that power for a greater cause; to make a strong empire and get rid of all the things that undermine it. And seriously, now Malgus is one of my favorite characther in SW, despite being a Sith.
