Garron, I’m a middle-aged teacher who works almost exclusively with people from outside of Ireland and I want to just say that I admire you so much! You are hilariously funny, but what you have articulated in this video is so full of common sense, humanity and needs to be heard! Please, don’t change. Keep being you. Speak up when you have something to say. You are wonderfully unique! Humour and intelligence, both of which you possess in abundance, is a wonderful combination! Wishing you the very best of luck with everything in the future, Garron. - Helen in Castlebar. You didn't force your opinion down our throats or try to influence anyone or anything either way, just a very level headed calm approach to what was an awful situation! My own opinion not that it matters is simple, it's a tale of two immigrants the man who committed the atrocious act against innocent victims and the hero who saved their and possibly more lives! There's always two sides to a coin! Thank you for this, this is important and you did us proud!

It has since been revealed that the true hero is actually an Irishman called Warren Donoghue he tackled and brought down the guy, the Brazilian helped but the media have been instructed to make the Brazilian to be the hero because it suits the Government narrative and creates balance. Brazilian now has crowd funding of over 300k and did very little compared to the real hero Warren Donoghue… it’s very sad but if Brazilian has any real integrity he will give the money to the victims, let’s wait and see 🤔

The sheer incompetence of our government and judicial system caused this. That man was here for twenty years, had severe mental health problems and have previous convictions related to knife crime. Anyone with mental issues and a history of carrying knives surely shouldn't be let roam the streets. And I'd be damn sure he wasn't offered the help needed. God help anyone trying to get mental health treatment in this country! Then the sheer amount of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers that have come into the country in the past few years is crazy, especially with the house crises. I'm in favour of helping people in crises but surely there's a limit in how many we can take? People look at other countries around Europe and see the terrorists attacks etc. and it puts people on edge. I don't believe this was terror related but I can see why people jumped to that conclusion very quickly. Then there's the riots and the absolute shambles of hole it was dealt with. A police force so unequipped to deal with such an event that it took hours for riot police to show up whilst other Gardai stood there not knowing what to do. Years and years of no support to our law enforcement was on full show on Thursday night. Those leading this country and our law enforcement are not fit for purpose whatsoever. They lit a fire under the pot, kept adding fuel to it and it hit boiling point. And not single one of them know how to react. Absolute shambles. #Irelandisfull they say. Oh it's full alright. Full of greedy and useless politicians.

Thank you for this, wow, as a Canadian living on the US border I struggle to gather my thoughts without frustration and anger when I see extreme hostility and rage in our politics, nearly half a century here, it’s not our way. I know we have massive economic struggles and people are desperate and tired. Emotions are high. Still I can see so much of the manner and rage seems to spill over, from our neighbours, and is upsetting. I feel badly for our neighbours, such a beautiful country filled with so many wonderful people too. This division, that is consumed all over, it’s poison. Thank you for your words, my parents are immigrants to Canada and I’m born and raised here. They were the proudest and most hard working Canadians. Immigrants can build a country in incredible ways.

" Sure when you think about it though isn't it great to be from a country people want to come to " Thought about that and yes it is . Cos 40 years ago no one wanted to live here everyone who could was moving to England or America. And lets face it if it wasnt for British people and eastern Europeans moving into the west of Ireland there'd be hardly anyone left here ! But yes housing and health Has to be done properly in the future not just tinkered with theres a lot of catching up to do . Brilliant video Garron I hope it goes far and wide .

Great sentiment and one I've heard a lot in Ireland. I'm an immigrant to Texas. I was born in Cork and brought up in Dublin. I was working in London in the late 80's. I was tolerated but not really accepted. That's not poor victim me. It's just to point out that immigrants tend to have to keep our heads down and that being tolerated is not as enjoyable as being accepted. It's a much better experience in the US but mainly because I'm white. I hear the stuff people around me say about what they think of "real" immigrants. I don't love it. Blame the economy on the people who built the economy. I suggest it's better than it was when I left, but it should be more inclusive and egalitarian. We all might want to understand whether we're entitled to a house with a garden and who should pay for it. At the same time we should all have a good chance at the things we want in our life. I will say the vast majority of people I meet are better than some of the people that want to represent me.

All I would say is most people are saying put some controls on our borders, put some checks on the people coming in. Irish authorities shouldn't be going to these countries promising the natives things we can't deliver just because we want to be seen as the best boy in the class. You have made some reasonable points and I agree the Irish have a justifiable empathy towards others fleeing persecution, war etc. However, there are two very important issues, namely scale and assimilation. As a small country Ireland can’t have a policy of receiving unlimited numbers of migrants, be they genuine asylum seekers or economic migrants. Secondly, one must differentiate between those embracing or adding to the Irish culture and those wishing to replace it. Add to this the problems facing many Irish people with basic needs seemingly being ignored and increasing incidence of migrant related crime, there is a recipe for extremism to arise. A governments first responsibility is to its own people and this must take precedence.

what an articulate and clear thinking young man! pleasure listening to you Garron - let's also not forget the many many murders committed by native Irish men (for the most part it's men) over many many years... what happened to Aisling Murphy and those children were horrific crimes and the perpetrators should be dealt with in the absolute severest of terms... I totally agree with Aisling Murphy's partners description of Joseph Puska and his family but it is not simply because he was a foreigner that he did what he did... how would anyone explain Larry Murphy, Cathal Crotty, Raymond Shorten, Graham Dwyer, Joe o'Reilly to name but a few.... the many women missing across Ireland for years, bodies nor killers ever found - were they all killed by foreigners? there were no foreigners when most of these things occurred.... it's bad people who do bad things but I agree society needs to wake up and start protecting victims rather than perpetrators...
