The Size Guide

Size Guides are nothing more than a guide to give you an idea of where to start. They are not a definitive answer as each shoemaker has their own idea of what size US size translates to a UK size translates to an EU size and the like.
Start with the size guide but do further research to truly see comparisons between the brand in question and other comparable brands by other shoe customers. Also ask the brand themselves, at the end of the day they should hopefully know how to fit their shoes.
Correction in my words: "I am a standard UK6.5 / US7.5." - Not a UK6.

Best thing to do is place your feet onto pieces of paper and outline your feet. Then measure from heel to tip of big toe, then from ball of feet to the sides. That will give you how many inches in length and width you are. That way you can then pick the correct size.

Conversations with the brand are critical, completely agree! I wear a 7UK in the slightly wider (G) fitting with TLB. 7UK on Bridlen's lasts (which I understand to be wide-fitting) also fits me fine. But 6.5UK normal width in Carlos Santos!

It's complicated. Due to my narrow feet, I wear a 7 and 7.5 in UK brands and a 9 B width in AE. I have found that the 7s in UK, although a little tight at first, fit and feel great after break in.

Sounds like my feet ;-) us8B/C but often go to US7.5D to get snug fit ;-)

It's certainly confusing, example my Trickers Henry boot's are all 8 1/2 width 5 my Burford are size 9 width 5 and my Stow are 9.5 width 5 yet all fit the same. Crockett and Jones my Chelsea boots are 9 E yet my Coniston rough out suede are 9.5 E and fit the same. Handmade manufacturers use different platforms for different styles. Loake and Grenson the same. Different platform and different sizing depending on if made in India or UK although both now using Indian components in all boot's so no longer truly English i don't know how they get away with the marketing

Hello, and thank you for these useful insights on shoe care and size. I have a practical question. We generally agree that we should not wear the same pair of shoes twice in a row. Is this only referred to two days in a row? For example, if I have a meeting in the morning, let's say from 8:00 to 12:00, and then I get back home and take the shoes off, should I wear the same pair for an evening meeting the same day, or should I wear another pair? Thank you!

So long as your shoes didnt get soaked during the day then its fine to continue wearing them.

Since you are my exact same size UK6. Do you have an advice for Septième Largeur? I only have TLBs at the moment but I'm looking to expand to british shoe makers and others, but as you put it in this video, the sizing guides are all over the place and it's hard to find definite references... I'm also eyeing Trickers, CNES, and Meermin. Thanks.

I am actually UK6.5. As per SL, really depends on their last, as they run different. Some are large, others narrow. Their chisel ones are similar in fit to TLB chisel ones. I can tell you that

Gdmrn My Brother. Always Good to see You and Appreciate your shoe knowledge. So Justin, Your Brand in US 9 fits me Great! I'm more than Happy with the Fit. How would you compair Your Brand in US sizing vs Carlos Santos & TLB Mallorca? Use your personal shoe size as a example. What would your wear in these other 2 Shoemakers? Just picking your Brain here :)

Tlb is similar to my chisel lasts. But I only know two of their lasts that I have shown here. Carlos Santos tends to run half size large at least. Compared to my chisel lasts, I would go half size down.
