A pianist SHOULD have two (roughly) equal hands. Only reason that isn't the case is either ignorance or laziness. Only the first of those two reasons is permissible.

DB HAVE YOU GOT A COURSE ON WORKING THE LEFT HAND WHERE YOU TAKE IT ELEMENTARY? If not what are the 2 to 7 areas one can really concentrate on to work it? Mind you there were also some slick melodies there that made the song pop more, how do you work those as well. Your story sit well with me. It was lit 🔥

Really nice sound! Will work on this piece when I get back from vacation. Something else to check out is Chopin's etude 10 1. It's about the ultimate 10th stretch exercise I know of . also known as "waterfalls", it was quite revolutionary at the time as it was the first piece written to really work that 10th stretch in the right hand. A lot of players learn to play the right-hand part with the left-hand also, so that you keep your technical ability of the left hand on par with the right. Sorry I don't know how to include a link. There are numerous performances of it on KZbin.

This technique reminds me of Art Tatum or Fats Waller, another way you can develop your left hand is to play ostinato bass patterns with extensions added in the arpeggio like 9ths 11ths or 13ths and you can use the pedal to sustain some of the harmonies that you create and play single note melodic phrases in your right hand, you just need be careful when and where you use the pedal so that your harmonies don't clash. P.S As the saying goes listen carefully and let your ear be the governor.
That great Sir. I only play the 10th only but now I can do the invasion, God bless you,let assum u didn't have injury 🙆🙆

That sounds great I have small hands so have to work on using pedal and rolling the notes. I love sound of spread voicings. Side note: The great pianist Leon Russell as a child got polio that affected the right side of his body. Like you he started working hard on his left hand and developed a style based on his strong left hand that producers liked.

How did you stretch your hand out for 10th?
@DeyquanBowens Жыл бұрын
I started out with getting the octaves down, then 9ths and I would challenge myself to get to 10ths later! I can reach a #11 which is crazy 😂! I recommend getting used to playing triads and 7th chords in your left to develop the muscles needed to play 10ths. 🙏🏾

For playing the piano, our hands are actually really badly designed. The strongest three fingers (thumb, index and middle) are always located in the center of the keyboard, whereas the most important parts of virtually any piece of music (the melody and the bass) rely our our "weakest" fingers to execute properly. You'd wish we had our left hand on the right arm, and our right hand on the left arm instead ... 🤣
@DeyquanBowens Жыл бұрын
🤔 This is interesting and now that I think about it, our weaker fingers do all the work lol!
