RANS designed a great airplane! This is one of the earliest completed RANS S-21s with a light empty weight and is for sale at a rock-bottom price. You couldn't build it today for the asking price. Just one correction, the stock wingspan is 28 feet, I think you misspoke and said 38'.
@skywagonuniversity50233 ай бұрын
Thanks for the correction.
@tangodelta7223 ай бұрын
It appears this plane had its wings extended. If the aileron doesn’t go all the way to the wing tip, it most definitely did. I thought I seen that during the video.
@skywagonuniversity50233 ай бұрын
@@tangodelta722 Yes, it has 1.5 feet more wing per side. I was wrong in the video about the total length. The extensions are easily removable but why would you? They are like the Wing X extensions on Cessna's.

The Rans S-21 has been causing quite a stir since it was introduced several years ago. All metal with a Titan 0-340 (essentially a Lycoming O-320 clone). You can build it with a Rotax 915iS too. Think of it as a slightly easier to build high-wing competitor to the Vans RV-9.
@skywagonuniversity50233 ай бұрын
This one has an 0-360 Lycoming in it and a constant speed prop. It is an enviable performer.

@@skywagonuniversity5023 There is a Kitplanes magazine series of articles in which someone installed 0-320 on an S-21 on the magazine's website. I imagine performance with an 0-360 might be described as "sparkling". Interestingly the S-21utilises pulled rivets, whereas the rivets on an RV aircraft are usually conventional bucked rivets.
