I love how you reference so many of your works (and friends!) in subtle ways. It makes the universes of trainz and models so connected! It's great to see someone succeed in a Thomas and friends cinematic universe: this is how it should be done! The adventurous tone, lighthearted banter, and nostalgic visuals make this story a delight to behold. I can imagine it's the most difficult, but I love what you can pull off with ertls. It's my favorite method of yours, and you can do it all! (Of course I can't resist anything Proteus) Well done Max!
@Terrier55Stepney7 жыл бұрын
You never fail to be an inspiration! Thanks so so much! Proteus was entirely inspired by you. I hate writing a generic episode where everything that has happened prior is completely forgotten and started again; if something can link it should. Awh I'll have to get the ERTLs out again and film something in the daylight! Keep on being the legend you are mate. :)

I believe that Albert’s rebuilds were actually different engines, and that the MKIII rebuild was the one who fell off. Well, Sir Handel’s base is used, so maybe it was the MKII. Maybe there was no rebuild and it was just Albert.

This was so worth the wait. Not only were the effects breathtaking but the story gave me true SLOTLT vibes, it has that perfect mix of comedy (i.e. Peter Sam's fascination with animals and Tom Tipper being in prison), drama (the music and the iron bridge effects add to it) and generally cute antics with the tiny ERTL narrow gauge engines. There is so much to this episode that can lead to an equally exciting sequel with the ghost engine on the viaduct (most likely based on the similar brainchild of EE93) and whatever Jon and Jerry will do now that Peter Sam let them escape. Will Peter Sam persuade them to join the good side through a bit more of his innocent nature or will the two double cross him again? Regardless, you've truly come so far since you've started and I look forward to seeing how much further you'll go. Here's to five years to your channel. {Raises a wine glass filled with orange squash because wine tastes just gross}
@Terrier55Stepney7 жыл бұрын
That's a very thoughtful comment, thank-you so much! Saying it felt a little like SLOTLT means I'm doing something right! I definitely wanted to convey the clash of Peter Sam's complete innocence and funnel in the clouds at times with two seemingly dangerous people who have a kind side deep down. The ghost engine was most certainly inspired by EE93's concepts and S5 of course, as well as the rumoured ghost that is said to have been heard at Talyllyn. I have no intentions for a follow-up to this as I think I've exhausted the use of Jon and Jerry now with 3 episodes. Thank-you! I hope to keep going but I don't know what the future holds; everything changes this year!

Well dam I have sorely missed the Narrow guage crew because this was brilliant :) The ERTLs haven't had an outing this great in years, but the sets (particularly the quarry) and camerawork helped too, even little things like the couplers being painted black :) Jon and Jerry's slate wagon escape intrigued me in particular, it reminded me of the gravity trains on the... Ffestinog line (Did i type it correctly?) and the sudden realization they would've been screwed if they didn't jump clear in time helped keep the tension going. If continuity's anything in your videos I expect there'll be more from what appears to be a Proteus ghost :D
@Terrier55Stepney7 жыл бұрын
Aw thanks! I grew up with ERTLs, and I really wanted to do a video therefore paying tribute to that. I also wanted a model Skarloey Railway episode without the expense of 009! So, this was born! Some are originals from my childhood, like Sir Handel and Duke, and others bought especially to customise like Skarloey, Rheneas and Proteus! It is absolutely him, and I do strive for continuity where feasible; I haven't got anything specifically in production for 'the ghost engine' but he will be returning as an explanation to this episode. Ah close enough! Ffestiniog! :) But yes, absolutely. I thought it would be quite comical to have a 'getaway vehicle' be an ancient form of transport and very reckless but not wreck-less! I wanted to create absolute confusion from Jon, Jerry and Peter Sam as all three equally had no idea what was going on, as did the viewer! The answer will be on the other side of the bridge I suppose? I'll have to think of something clever now.. ugh.
