I loved Matthew Ball in this dance. He really felt like a bluebird to me and his lines and technique were beautiful. This is the first pas de deux that I have watched where I was totally captivated with male dancer’s part in the duet. Great job Matthew.

No kidding. Usually I can’t look away from Yasmin, she’s just so radiant. But in this one I barely see her! His jump at 0:09-he just floats into the air. And the tiny flutter rippling all the way down his arm at the very end…😍

The Bluebird Pas de Deux has never been one of my favorites, but Jasmine positively sparkles in this role. Her epaulement is wonderful. She has the poise and polish of the Royal Ballet style with just a touch of her own musicality adding a uniquely joyous lilt, and expressiveness to this role. She exudes warmth, charm, and happiness in a way that very few dancers can match. And yes, she does have beautiful hands and her fluttering hand movements make it seem that she is truly inhabiting the role. Wonderful!

Absolutely glorious. I am watching on a dull, grey subway car , on my way to my overnight nursing shift. Ballet provides a parallel universe of beauty, skill and art that soothes and inspires me. I keep watching, flipping my gaze from one to the other to both. Wonderful 😌🙏😌

I'd say the older recording of Sarah Lamb and Yohei Sasaki is better. Matthew and Yasmine miss a few opportunities for nice moments that Sarah and Yohei got, sometimes they're in a little too much of a hurry to get to the next step, especially in that last diagonal with the pirouettes to the promenade. That clip of Sarah and Yohei is unfortunately no longer on KZbin.

You fiends! How could you post this glorious an adagio and not post the variations and coda???? I don't know if this will make sense, but they both have what I think of as a "light touch": a sense of effortless ease in the technique combined with phrasing that completely, lovingly interprets and fills out the music. Was this more of Darcy Bussell's coaching? I'm often disappointed with Bluebird because it usually falls short of its promise. This one hit notes I didn't think were even there. Please take pity on your fans in countries that don't even get the ballet cinema feed and post the rest!

Dolphin Kid Sometimes performers will whisper to each other onstage (I’ve done it before). I can assume that since there was that extremely difficult turn afterwards she was probably signaling to him that she was feeling ok to do it. Occasionally instructors will give options for turns like that, because if you’re having a bad turn day you don’t want to hurt yourself trying to do a hard turn like that. That’s what I think happened anyway.
