When I watched the direct, I did hear him say “social distance”. Reading the subtitle, I figured he originally said something like “These guys aren’t socially distancing”, jokingly, but that NOA felt that mentioning “social distancing” would’ve been off-brand or something, so they just simplyfied it to “They’re far too close.” I had no idea there was more to it. I think they could’ve kept the social distancing joke, even if no one outside of Japan knew of the meme. It’s still a funny observation. They could’ve reworded it to sound more like a joke. But I suppose what they went with is fine.

In my experience when we narrate a Japanese VP, some scenes are cut or elongated for various reasons but mainly how long they have been licensed to let the video roll or did the narration not match up with the clip due to a tight squeeze and unnatural raise in tone dut to increase in narration speed? If you're in the studio, you know why but it's not uncommon. Even now with SMBX?, we still work with Nintendo. Games are played on many platforms or SEGA sells the right to play it on XBOX etc.

They have some of the worst numbers per capita in the world right now and many countries still have travel embargos on them. Blaming China for America saying that people are dying is a political issue is flat out wrong. (I'm also not saying China is handling it well either, but if you're going to use China as your comparison for moral high ground, you're digging the bottom of the barrel.)
