@Tiktaalik it's less a secret than it is the structure of the band. Billy has always been the lead guitarist of the band, James always the rhythm. It's fascinating to me because I struggle to think of another band where the lead singer plays *lead* guitar. It's a testament to Billy's skill. And yes, Jimmy is AMAZING. If you haven't already, check out the album 'Life Begins Again' from his band, The Jimmy Chamberlin Complex. They only made one album, but it's a great one, and Jimmy's drums are the lead instrument in every song. edit: I just found out that The Complex released another album in 2017! Alright!!

kitoyobeni1 yeah, Jeff is awesome. He knows all the riffs and has been super loyal to the SP legacy. He's put up with Billie's tantrums over the years and always been really humble in all the interviews I've seen him in. I am glad he is at least in all the promo photos as an official member now, but it would be nice if the fans appreciated him more. Everyone gets so carried away with the OG's (James Iha) coming back that they don't focus on the actual functionality of the bands dynamics....I probably ranted for too long there, lol. But, I think you get what I'm trying to say.

I can’t get through this song, on the new album. THIS is the version that Malta always should have been. It’s just better in every way. Billy’s voice, James. Jimmy is the same though, because that guy is a flawless machine of an artist. However, the main things that improved it for me were the backing vocals turned up higher, and that awful synthesizer replaced with guitars.
@kitoyobeni15 жыл бұрын
Saw them perform this live last night. The background vox weren't as prominent (only the keyboard player was singing them, no dedicated background singers) and Billy tagged on a killer solo to the end of the track. Might be a more palatable version for many of the fans.

this live version of "i of the mourning" is another example of this....the studio version is ok and this live version is epic....one of my most visited sp video.......the solo is amazing, way better than the backwards solo in the original....and the end when he sings"what is it you want...." just epic and the whole song more rocked out with more distortion....its what should have been on the album
