I think he looked over at James at that point because of something about the two overdose incidents that they both knew about....like maybe one of them was defending Jimmy and Jonathan OR one was accusing and then that person realized the truth and felt stupid, The way James chimes in it seems like maybe he was defending them or maybe he was telling Billy he thought there was a problem all along - something like that. Definitely seems like they weren't on the same page about it till after the 2nd OD based on what they're saying(and aren't saying) and their body language/nervous laughter.

BA BF bullshit. Throwing people under the bus is not going to stop them taking drugs. Only they can.
@betsybabf7486 жыл бұрын
You don't seem to comprehend it. It is not "throwing them under the bus" (and seriously, we're not 7th graders), but placing all responsibility and ownership on them, as they are the only ones who can do it, which only happens when all responsibility and ownership lies openly with them.
@despicabledog6 жыл бұрын
BA BF you're an idiot. I AM an ex-heroin user, and I've been one for 6 years before I finally was able to quit. Do you know what happened when people revealed my issues to other people? I told them to fuck off, and, if anything, I'd do more H because I was pissed off. I quit because I wanted to, not because people were talking behind my back (or not). Revealing private things such as drug addiction in an interview that is going to be watched by millions of people is not lying responsibility and ownership upon a person, it's being a scumbag. If they really cared they would have helped him, first by having a serious discussion and not pressuring people that have drug issues by asking them constantly "have you taken drugs?? are you sober??" like these idiots admitted they did, which only makes a person want to get high even more, and, secondly, having him rehabilitated in a facility that supplies buprenorphine or methadone (I don't know about the US but it's free here... and even if it wasn't, they have enough money to pay for one). They are scumbags (which I expected from Billy but not James and D'arcy) and no one should ever put individuals who have serious issues such as drug addiction and likely depression under public scrutiny. It has never helped and never will. Quitting opioids is hard, it's a lifelong battle, and has little if nothing to do with responsibility. When your addicted to heroin and you don't take it you feel sick and you need a long acting opioid like methadone to stop the withdrawal symptoms and to be able to taper off and gradually recover (upregulate) the opioid receptors. All the media coverage and pressure will not make any difference if a person is sick. They could have avoided Jonathan's dead but they did nothing even though they knew he had overdosed a few months earlier and this was after Kurt Cobain death so they all knew the risks involved in heroin addiction. They just didn't care, and the way Billy talks about him and Chamberlain shows what a little man he is.

jimmys nose was so swollen in that interview at the beginning of the tour compared to what it looks like any time he's been clean since - just kind of an odd little observation.

Nice to see billy seem so open real and raw with emotion. I hate the circumstances but it was what it was. And it was a looong time ago. I'm so thrilled that Jimmy got his shit together. Now him and Billy are back! Billy's new album is amazing as well. Love this band so much 🤘✌️❤️

Herbert Colin Well, I challenge you, Herb, to name a single living rock musician who's as articulate and well-reasoned in both opinion and argument , particularly on matters of interpersonal relationships and the workings of the music business, two issues whch dominate his interviews, than our Billy. Now you could say Dylan but he's only ever said about 2% of what was on his mind, and don't say Zappa. He's been dead for generations. Townsend? Maybe. But he can no longer hear the questions. Peace.

a.m. remorse I'm sure you can justify those choices. I've never heard Reznor speak. Brian Eno creates very boring ambient discs and has collaborated musically with people whose significance will far outlive his. I've heard him interviewed praising the great Scott Walker though, which I thought was nice.
@Uhohlisa6 жыл бұрын
roger murray, are you serious? Like, please Google this, it's well accepted that Billy Corgan is not only one of the most difficult people to get along with, that he is a walking contrarian who has contradicted himself about almost every celebrity he's ever dealt with just to get a headline or cash-grab. I mean, we're talking about a man that swears on his life that he knows lizard people are real because he saw someone once transform into another person in front of him. The band stopped making good music shortly after this interview, with Ava Adore being critically and commercially a flop, and Billy doing anything he can since then to maintain the status he once so enjoyed. I love early SP, but it's like you're from 1999 and haven't read a single headline regarding Corgan since then..

Back then there weren’t media backlashes and angry fans unless you said something truly awful. But now with even innocuous things being twisted out of context and social media allowing people to harass and bully others, I can understand why entertainers would be more guarded during interviews.

I have a love/hate feeling with what you said because I can see it both ways. It used to bother me with Stone Temple Pilots whenever they threw Scott under the bus after every slip up. I wanna say "keep things private, don't smash someone in the public eye when you might end up working with them again." However, I can understand the frustration that comes along with putting up with someone's drug abuse day in and day out. The thought that someone's addiction (and some would say selfishness) will derail your livelihood, and having to put up with that on a constant basis is exhausting. I think what the band said was out of anger, hurt, and sadness that someone on their tour is dead. I'm sure it was cathartic to say to everyone that they're not putting up with it anymore.
@Uhohlisa6 жыл бұрын
Totally, completely disagree. There's a difference between "throwing a mate under a bus" and being completely honest about a situation. Watching this, I kept thinking about how today's celebrities are so removed from reality, pampered, softballed every step-of-the-way, refusing to do interviews unless producers consent to asking only the most bullshit of questions & putting them on a pedestal. It was so refreshing to see people talking head-on, and Jimmy himself said he needed to be exposed like this, so to speak, removed of all the artificial edifice of celebrity before he saw the truth of the situation he had put himself in.
@betsybabf7486 жыл бұрын
Keeping things private is how people die. After they tragically learned this, they stopped. Addicts count on those around them to think like you and not know better.

What an earnest bunch of guys/girls. This was the beginning of the end of rock and roll as something fun. It was getting too earnest after peppers and late 60s thankfully early 70s the dolls resurrected the levity that rock began with. Slowly the pomp and pretentiousness of peppers and prog faded away by the late 70s thanks to the dolls, hair metal, and punk. Then Kurt and grunge killed the fun again by 91”. Too bad.
