People say they weren't big, but they were big enough to tour Australia in the 80s, when I was lucky enough to see them - & I was a broke teenage Mom without a car & the gig was MILES away on the posh northern beaches of Sydney

I get the blues before and after when I think how little respect these guys got when they were doing some of there magic although the album 11 did go gold largely because of the song " a girl like you". We will forever miss you Pat and the rest of you 3 musketeers. You guys were and will forever remain great. Pitty I just never got to see you guys live.!! Maybe when I meet you in heaven.

Always dug these guys. Bought all their Albums up to 11. Then kind of fell off. My girlfriend at the time was really into them. Saw them live opening for (can’t remember) around 1989. RIP Mr. DiNizio. You had a great, and defining voice.

Normally I'd say these guys were underrated but if you REALLY know music, you'd know these guys were just solid and made the music they did for their base. They never struck me as the type that wanted to be labeled "rock stars". They were comfortable in their own (rocking) skin and that's why I'll always think of them as great.

Got to see them in 2016. One of the rare shows out west. The played a casino in Colorado. He was not looking good and had an 02 tank on stage. The show was fantastic.RIP Pat.

funny thing about that is that nirvana had this tape with one side smithereens and the other side metal band celtic frost.nirvana got their guitar sound from listening to celtic frost

I read an article with Dave Grohl & he talked about a pre-Nevermind Nirvana tour & they had 1 tape they listened to the whole tour …1 side was Celtic Frost & the other was the Smithereens …..the Snithereens were BIG in the late 80’s
