The Smith's are an acquired taste for many. I always liked them. Life isn't perfect. Never will be. They sing about it. Great band.

I love The Smiths, though I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. My friend says she wants to slit her wrists whenever she hears them, lol. But I just love that dry, sly humour that their songs have.

Many people's opinion unfortunately who don't see the irony in many of the songs. If you ever get the chance, go and see the tribute band 'The Smyths', you won't regret it.

Your friend has no sense of humour or maybe just didn’t give them a proper listen. Morrissey’s lyrics are often hilarious ( underneath the melancholy )

The Smiths were always an interesting group and very eclectic. Morrissey always tip toed and flitted around his imagery and sexuality to the nth degree and created an specific aura.Very influential. Harri loved that jacket btw. It almost makes you disappear into the decor. lol

What a great day, doing two Smiths songs :) This track was apparently based on Sandie Shaw’s track ‘Heaven Knows I’m Missing Him Now’... Yeah lots of humour.. Probably not now lol but maybe try 'William, it was really nothing' for an upbeat track..

I think William it was really nothing was about Billy McKenzie from the Associates… I heard it somewhere
@kevcall3 жыл бұрын
@@annesmith2259 yeah I think you're right. Loved party fears two.. Never understood it lol. Interestingly, the Associates’ replied with ‘Stephen, You Were Really Something’ which was recorded in 1993 but not released until 2000..

For the best of Morrissey's lyrical/poetic ability, I think you can't go past 'There is a Light that Never Goes Out' by The Smiths. That song for me is the stand out in their catalogue, not just lyrically but musically. Stop me if you think....is another great song you may wish to review.

Graduated 1980 just south of Detroit and moved to Houston Texas 1982. Some roommates of mine I head down there were real big into the Smith, XTC, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel etc. There’s some really good music come out of this era. Listen to the duet with Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush called “Don’t give up“ it will blow your mind.

Though many of their songs reek heavily of malcontentment, I love The Smiths and their music. They have a bevy of great songs. One of my favorites is “Panic.”

The Smiths did a song called “how soon is now“ that was used in a movie called the craft about four young witches.
