I agree. Even his own band seemed to not realize how great he was. His harmonies and interplay with Marr are incredible. Plus, he played all of his basslines so effortlessly, nonchalantly even, and they're pretty demanding as far as basslines go. He's also just as good with a pick as with fingers, and understood the strengths of both ways, and how and when to utilize each technique.

It really is one of the coolest Morrissey/Marr moments on film [for me anyway] the 80's Lennon & McCartney' some ppl who are not so familiar with them & say they are depressing what not, they really don't get Morrissey is being ironic & had very dark humour, & in contrast to that we get Marr's really upbeat happy [even euphoric guitar/music that he wrote, & the really badly underrated Rourke/Joyce] 'The Queen Is Dead' is a perfect example or Some Girls Are Bigger Then Others' the latter as Marr said "Is Smiths in a nutshell"

Keep in mind that this is a "modernized" version of the original recording, athough its very lightly Mixed and Mastered (getting rid of static noise, slighty readjusting pitch and volume of some instruments and such). Amazing show. It's very rare that I prefer a band's live sound to their studio recordings, and this is it. Thanks for uploading.

What an awesome concert. The quality and sound of this concert is excellent. Must have been a special night to be in the audience live.

I've been listening to The Smiths since the late 80s and will listen to them forever. The reason is obvious from this video, the amazing music. I love them

Guitar and bass in Barbarism begins at home always blows my mind every single time, especially the riff in the verse Spins your head with how much is happening and you can’t work out any of it in the best way possible

Truly one of the most original and greatest bands of the early 80's! Oh to see The Smiths as young lads again. Their songs spoke to the times so well. Incredible memories rush through me as I watched this great concert footage. Thanks so much for sharing this!

I wouldn’t say I was “born in the wrong generation” because of how vapid and generic that sounds. I do wish I was eligible to see this performance though. I’m 12 years old and experienced my first Smiths song when I was in 5th grade. I think I am more mature than a lot of people my age. I am definitely more pessimistic than optimistic which makes my perspective on arbitrary things disorienting and bewildering to others my age. They don’t understand why I like depressing songs. I also like science and math a lot more than my friends. I wish my generation had more innovative thinkers and “funny” people because everyone at my school has horrendous humor. I don’t want to be known only for TikTok and the other ludicrous social media apps. I wish this world was different, but I would not time travel into the past for the sake of the good, old butterfly effect.

I don’t think I’m saying anything new by saying that The Smiths are one of the best bands of all time, I believe it’s truly indisputable and a massive part of that is down to Andy Rourke!! This is one of the best live gigs I have ever watched! Unfathomably tight band!! Their contribution to music and pop culture in general is absolutely staggering RIP Andy, in my opinion you are the greatest bass player that ever lived 🙌

I do and I don’t. I’m not a big fan of crowds, but it would be nice to see them up close. Either way, it’s irrefutably impossible for me to have had the chance to see this concert because I’m 12 years old.

Get out and be around people. It’s good to commune. This size crowd is pleasant. Not too jammed. Not too big.

John's guitar playing is sublime,he never simply strums a chord . He has such a unique style . I never realized how fantastic these musicians were.... Morrissey's unique style overshadowed how truly great this band was...

Marr was awesome for his age and the rest of the band held their own. The drums and bass are one point. Love the drums on Heaven knows. The bass in Barbarism is so pre Duran Duran John Taylor... Just awesome.
