Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want was released in 1984. It was featured on the compilation albums Hatful of Hollow and Louder Than Bombs.
Lyrics
Good time for a change
See, the luck I've had
Can make a good man
Turn bad
So please please please
Let me, let me, let me
Let me get what I want
This time
Haven't had a dream in a long time
See, the life I've had
Can make a good man bad
So for once in my life
Let me get what I want
Lord knows, it would be the first time
Lord knows, it would be the first time

I'm sorry but that's nonsense. A song is a very nice diversion. Temporarily. But it's totally insufficient. Some of our lives are so hideous and cruel that even if they changed today it still couldn't make up for what we've been through. But still I keep hoping. Many of you do as well. If things improve then help another.

lately i’ve been feeling really empty, not really sad, not really happy, maybe euphoric when i’m out with my friends, or a little bit lonely when i’m on my own, hardly studying, but it’s not a deep feeling: it’s just nothing, i feel like i have nothing. All this friends of mine talking about boys, feelings, uncertainties, love, reject... i don’t know, i feel like i’ve never really experienced this kind of things, i’m really missing something out there. [Edit] now it’s been a year and... well one month after this comment i fell in love. it’s not like love can solve all of your problem, but sometimes now, i’m happy

This song has always been my favorite Smiths song. I used to think it was about a person out on their luck and just wishing for salvation but really listening to it its about a good thing finally happening, the spark of hope being lit in the person's heart hoping to fan the flames into something substantial. This song has flipped 180 for me in just seconds I used to be so sad when I listened to it but now it makes me feel really good. Its all the same chords and same lyrics but it just feels completely different. Incredible
